    Default How do you stay out of the fire???

    OK, I suck. I'm new to multiboxing and I've got a five-man team up to level 44 in Rift. I've completed all the dungeons up to this level with my team, but I'm in the (normal) dungeon Fall of Lantern Hook, trying to kill some jag-off named Pyromaster Cortilnald who was obviously abused as a young wizard and has emotional problems and a bad attitude.

    What this guy does is stand up on a ledge and call up a bunch of adds you need to fight--a mix of ranged and melee--meanwhile summoning great big pillars of fire on top of your group. After you kill some preset number of adds, he comes down to join the fun and you can engage him, but meanwhile he keeps dumping these pillars of fire all over the place, tighter and tighter around him and you, till there's barely anywhere left. And the fire kills fast!

    So, this is a typical boss-type scenario. Dungeon 101: kill things and stay out of the fire.

    So my question--after this ramble--is: how do the pros keep the team out of the fire? I'm using isboxer. I've tried:
    • mapping my movement keys directly to the slaves so they react faster,
    • playing around with my group's specs,
    • keeping follow up all the time (they just don't stay close enough on my heels),
    • making sure all my team is using instant cast so they can attack n the run.
    • I've even gone so far as researching the fight! (not much out there cuz if I was driving individuals it's easy!).

    The best so far is I've done is get him down to 13 percent, in more attempts than I care to admit.

    I've looked on the forums but apparently I'm not adept at searching either...

    So, any pointers?

    I had a lot of problems with this guy as well. I am using 5 clerics 1 tank, 1 healer, and 3 dps. First of all I had a lot of trouble with this fight until I was a few levels higher than the minimum to enter the dungeon (not sure what that is). Basically I put everyone on follow and just ran around the room in a circle killing the adds and staying out of the fire. When the boss lands I would run the group to the boss and break auto follow. When the fire drops on the group I would use straif to move out of it. When the boss teleports I would put everyone on auto follow and repeat. You also want to make sure that you interrupt the Cinder burst ( I think that is what its called) because that will do a ton of damage to a group member.

    I don't recall having a lot of trouble with him. I just stack all characters on top of the tank and constantly keep moving, using instant cast DPS. Use a lot of DPS and kill him as quick as you can.
    Team 1: 7x60p80 Clerics + 3x60p60 Mages (Legio IX)
    Team 2: 5x60 Clerics + 5x60 Rogues
    Team 3: 10x60 Warriors
