Grid issue!

I have grid custom layouts set to order by name.

sortMethod="NAME"

Which works brilliantly until I enter a LFR or BG and then this...



Grid goes into a row or column. Is there a different string I should use to alphabatiize grid, or a different way to alphabatize it? I remember using grid in cata, did they break it?
