Also, I dont know if it has already been noted but if you have 2 PvP trinkets equipped you reive 10% less damage from players come 5.4. So, that is sort of incentive to derail people from equipping PvE trinkets in PvP.

Its 2600 resilience. They changed it a while back from 10%

On live I have a resilience set that gives me 2415 resilience rating or 68.31% resilience. Compared to the base 65% player damage mitigation this means 9.4% less damage taken.

    example:

    - you take a 100 unmitigated damage hit
    - each 1% resilience reduces 1% of the damage
    - with 65% base resilience that becomes a 35 damage hit (100 - 65)
    - with 68.31% resilience that 35 hit becomes a 31.69 hit, or 3.31 less absolute damage
    - so 3.31 damage shaved off of a 35 hit is basically decreasing the damage you took by 9.45% ((3,31/35)*100)

So 2600 resilience rating will put you slightly above 68.5% resilience, which equals to 10% less damage taken ((3.5/35)*100)).

So long story short, the 2600 resilience rating is roughly the same as 10% less damage taken.

Resilience has diminishing returns and the DR starts at 65%. Its not 10%, its @5% as shodo said. The math has already been done.

    - Each 1% resilience reduces the incoming damage with 1%. There is no dr here.
    - Resilience rating has diminishing returns: the more rating you get the less damage mitigation you will get per point of resilience rating.
    - Resilience has increasing (exponential) damage reduction returns: the more resilience you have the higher the damage mitigation effect is (if you have 0 resil and add 1% resilience then you mitigate 1% more incoming damage. If you have 80% resilience and you add 1% resilience, then you will mitigate 5% more incoming damage).

    Again:
    - 65% resilience will change 100 incoming damage into 35 actual damage
    - 68% resilience will change 100 incoming damage into 32 actual damage
    - (3/35)*100 = 8% less damage taken

Not sure who told you that 2600 _extra_ resilience rating equals 5% less damage taken, but that person is wrong. It's slightly over 10%, provided you don't already have resilience gems and enchants.

That looks right. I havent done the math myself yet and took another post for it. cba to do maths for wow myself because I am a lazy bastard and would rather drink more beer. Once I read holinka's tweet for the reasoning for the change from 10% dr to 2600 resilience it made sense. Thanks zenga

so 65% base resilience and with trinket bonus I got 68,54 on ptr

pretty simple a 100k frostbomb hits you for 35k and with that trinket bonus it hits you for 31460 so its a bit more than 10% damage reduce, exact 10% damage reduce would be 31500

a 10% increase in resilience (75%) would be another ~28% dmg reduce (fb would do 25k then)
