I dont think that it was really in their intention to "nerf" us in battlegrounds by removing follow but if they think that it helps in the war against bots then well ... they've always said multiboxing is not beeing supported and now they activated follow in arenas again that means they're somehow supporting us as long as bots dont benefit from it
