    Default Rift Multiboxing Tips

I've been starting to put together a list of tips/tricks for Rift. Coming from wow so these are things that are different that stood out to me.

    • Use these commands to get your action bars and things mirrored properly (does not cover macros, annoyingly. Nothing does):

/exportui <filename> -- exports your UI, Chat, macro settings to a file
/importui <filename> -- imports your UI, Chat settings from a file. This works across characters, shards, factions, and even accounts.
    /exportkeybindings <filename> -- exports your keybinds to a file
/importkeybindings <filename> -- imports your keybinds from a files. This works across characters, shards, factions, and even accounts.

    • in LFD, there is no way to do FFA loot, but if you change the loot level to "Common" (default is Uncommon), then you only miss out on grays

    • Casts generally will not interrupt a gather, so feel free to start gathering a node/quest item while continuing to spam away on the rest of the team

    • Legacy accounts may well be faster mounted at first. Don't plan to drive from the faster account when you set up your team.

    • Quest items (and items that give quests) from mobs will drop for everyone, quest items that involve gathering from the ground will NOT count for everyone, non-gather quest objectives are about 50/50 (sometimes the first use will count for everyone, but sometimes no) so pay attention.

    • /interact works like wow but not quite as well. Sometimes multiple presses will open the interaction on some characters, while closing for others (pay attention!). For best results target the target with a left (not right) mouse click, and then interact. True for both corpses and NPCs.

    • /trade is a very handy macro

    • To equip quest rewards across toons turn on full repeat and then type "/equip item" . Any other object is "/use item" (consumables, quest giving objects)

    • If there is a quest that involves using a quest item on the quest tracker, usually you will get multiple credits if you use the item on the same target from all your toons at once

    • Rift low level dungeons have harder bosses than the equivalent in wow. With actual mechanics. Google is your friend.

    • If you wipe in a dungeon, soul walk on only one toon at a time and then use your ascended resurrection ability to get up the rest of the team. This gives you five wipes per dungeon without running back

    Anyone else have anything?

    edit:
    • You can vendor your grays, soulbounds, anything you want using the in game store. No need to visit a real vendor, just click the shopping cart button and choose a category!

Just starting multiboxing Rift myself and I did not know some of these tips. Thanks for posting, it looks like most of these will prove to be quite useful. Thanks!

    - in case you let Rift/your OS handle CPU load, edit rift.cfg from "MainThreadCPU = 3" to "MainThreadCPU = 0"
    - adding "AmbientOcclusion = False" to rift.cfg might improve performance
    - grinding mobs might be a faster leveling option pre 50 if your IAs suck as much as mine, aka a lot of AFKers + people questing while IAing

Hey guys incase your wondering if one of your toons missed out on accepting a quest you could always choose to share it probably works on some quest items that are looting from corpses or interacted with.

Hmm the ambient occlusion trick might be just what I needed. I've been playing three boxes on low quality render and two on regular (my tank, box 1, and my mounted leader box 2), but if I can keep the cpu usage under control on the regulars then I could upgrade the other three.

Excellent tip. I find those "get a quest from a board or post or other object in the wild" very annoying, and I have gotten in the habit of first accepting it on my main and then trying to share rather than clicking tediously on it box by box, each time waiting a few seconds for the sparkle to come back. I hate quest item sparkle lag in this game!

    - Outfitter skill 1 is enough to get extra cloth drops (even high level cloth). In case anyways wants to craft his own bags, its rather nice to get those extra drops.

Really!?! I didn't know that it worked like northrend cloth scavenging, thanks!

A quick way I've found to sync most of the windows on the desktop is to create 2 macros--one on my main:

/exportui c:\uisaved (or any filename--needs to match the one in the second macro below)

And one for all my slaves:

    macrowait 5
    /importui c:\uisaved

I put them all in the same space on an action bar in a repeater region, and when I want to sync I hit the button on my main, it saves his UI, and 5 seconds later all the slaves import it.
