Personally, I use 2560x1120 main, 640x480 clones. If you want to use PiP then you may want to have your main screen at a 4:3 aspect ratio (1493x112).

    Code:
    +-----------+
    | |
    +--+--+--+--+
    | | | | |
    +--+--+--+--+
Or you could put your monitor in vertical with 800x600 clones, and 1600x1360:

    Code:
    +----+----+
    | | |
    +----+----+
    | |
    +----+----+
    | | |
    +----+----+

I second that Mudd. That is how I would do it if I was to box 5 on 1 30".

Why do people seem to be perfectly fine not being able to see anything on their secondary screens? I don't know about you but I like to be able to switch INSTANTLY to any screen - preferably by simply looking at another screen.

I can understand boxing on a 21" display how one would have to cram them in but on a 30" .. why?

i like to do it that way because i feel that all i NEED to see my main screen. I make the screens large enough that if i ever need them, i can use them, but not as large as the main screen

i think it also helps some people focus on their main... it can hurt my eyes sometimes to look at 5+ different things when they are basically all the same

    Default My preference

I like [Keyclone] Keyclone maximzer isn't stretching WoW windows correctly solution best because I can have same aspect ration in all 5 windows while not loosing any desktop space.

    Thx for the help.

    Hey guys,

I'm the guy in the screenshot that Keyclone just posted.

Let me tell you that is the PERFECT way of doing it!

However I have a problem - My 30" monitor from HP (LP3065) just bit the dust. The monitor is in perm. power saving mode and will not turn on any more. *CRY*

I love the setup but I really would like to get something bigger than a 30" monitor for my alt guys. I'm thinking about buying 2 28" monitors (30" ones aren't in stock around the world it seems) and then disassembling them and then mounting them together on a dual mount, giving it a near seamless look of 1 big monitor. Has anybody ever taken an LCD monitor apart to remove the black surrounding border to attempt to squeeze 2 together?

    Cheers!

I have the same monitor, you can see what I've been using to this point in my sig. The breakdown is one 2560x1000 window and 4 640x600 at the bottom. This is what I settled on as the best tradeoff between main window size and being able to do anything reasonable on the clones.

I recently (on Rob's suggestion), tried out the 4 little windows on the right to maintain the same aspect ratio for those PiP moments. I definitely liked that part of it, but I'm still on the fence about the overall effect (mainly the "scrunched" horizontal feel of the main window, possibly because I'm so used to the mega-wide one I've had to this point ). I will say that while the non-consistent aspect ratio thing looks like crap, it's totally playable to me, especially considering that I'm only doing so long enough to get my main back up and going. My opinions could change if I spent a lot of time switched (like after a main death in a bg, for instance).

And to answer Xzin's question, I really don't care much what the clone windows look like as long as I can read them (barely) and see what's going on. In any situation where I need more than a trivial interaction with that toon, I PiP and use the main window.
No matter where you go, there you are.
