For what it's worth, an HDMI output on a video card is nothing special. You can get a DVI-to-HDMI video cable for $20-30 (or more, depending on length). All that matters is if you are going to watch protected content (DVDs), then the video card has to support HDCP over DVI (which many do).
I'm 99% sure this only applies if you're using Windows Vista.
Or XP or Linux or Unix..... If the disc requires an approved application and the application requires it, then you need it no matter what OS you use.
