problems with importui command

So the slash command /importui multiboxing.txt is supposed to import the ui I created with /exportui multiboxing.txt.

I made 7 macros (invite by name, target by name each slot, and /follow) on the original account, and put them all on the second action bar. Annoyingly importing the ui does nothing except enable the second action bar. There are no macros in the /macro even though the command explicitly states that "Imports your UI, chat and macro settings from a file. The file must be in the same folder as rift.exe. Defaults to UI.dat if no file name is given."

It's obviously importing something, because it is enabling the second action bar.

I'll note that the keybindings /importkeybindings command worked perfectly.

Any ideas? I was toying with the idea of making a little program that generates default macros for people based on their team so that I don't have to do this manually, but if I can't even get the command to work...

edit: from looking at the multiboxing.txt file, it has a lot of gibberish but it also has the text of my macros in plain text, so I don't think the problem is with the export.

It doesn't export/import macros, only UI layout and UI settings. There's no way to export/import macros between accounts, as far as I know. It's a binary file, not a text file.

You can import macros between chars on the same account, but you do that with the IMPORT button in the main menu (ESC).

If you open the file, you will see that it does export the macros... it just doesn't import them. Apparently there isn't anything to be done. I eventually had to type them all out by hand, 5 times.

I did five target by name macros

/target toonone
/target toontwo

etc


as well as an invite macro, /follow, and /interact

annoying slog as the copy paste clipboard doesn't behave predictably in my rift windows.

Yeah, agreed. :/ I turn on Repeat and type it in exactly the same way across all chars. But it really sucks that a simple Copy-Paste doesn't work.

Thanks alge, I'll try shutting down keep pass and MS office next time. Strange that they've never caused clipboard problems before. I'm afraid that the extent of my troubleshooting with the copy paste was to disable auto hot key.

Also turning on repeat would definitely have been the smarter way to go....
