    Default Thinking about rift

Ive been toying with the idea of trying a new game is rift really worth it. What are the pros and cons of it vs wow. Just need some input.
They say spiders have 8 legs well i guess im a rare and unimaginable specimen. Ive got 9 legs and my web comes from that 9th leg. HaHa.

I found it very similar to WoW in basic PVE. Didn't try any PVP while I played. The rift spawn events are pretty neat as a world-PVE dynamic, as are the zone invasion events. Macroing might actually be easier than WoW despite not having the level of control over macros (at least, with ISBoxer it is), though that might have changed since I played quite a while ago. The engine was about as reliable as WoW and access to gear was a good bit easier. It has quite a different...flavor, if you will. Just plays differently in how it feels on attacks and movement. I liked it, though at the time I was burning out on MMOs generally, so I didn't play very long after my rangers hit 50.
    Now playing: WoW (Garona)

I played for a bit as well.

Its similar enough to WoW that if you quit because they pissed you off you will easily find a home in Rift and just settle right in. But its also similar enough to WoW that if you quit because you're burnt out then you'll still be burnt out playing Rift.

I think the main differences between WoW and RIFT is the soul system, rifts & zone events and dimensions.

    1. Soul system: You have 4 classes. Warrior, Cleric, Rogue and Mage. Each class has three talent trees. So far so good.
    a) However, in RIFT, you get to pick any one of 9 "souls" for each talent tree. So you can mix and match to create your own spec.
    b) You can have up to different 20 specs set up, and switch between them at any time with a button click.

    2. Rifts & zone events: Open-world PvE content that is scaled for 1 to 20 characters. Perfect for multiboxers.

    3. Dimensions: Housing system, where you can build anything you want with wood planks, plants, set pieces, or whatever.
    Team 1: 7x60p80 Clerics + 3x60p60 Mages (Legio IX)
    Team 2: 5x60 Clerics + 5x60 Rogues
    Team 3: 10x60 Warriors

its not as bight as wow, world pvp is fun and seems a lot more then in wow. bg's low level are about the same as wow some classes better then others.
dungeons pve are about the same wow with LFG (old days when u die and have to walk from the gy.)

its hard to get into that kinda sucks for me anyway,

A Dimension is an instance version of a piece of area from the world or a dungeon. Each character can own two Dimensions, and the guild can own a Guild Dimension. You can set up rules for who can visit and modify, and such.

You teleport into Dimensions using the UI, at any time.

You collect building materials (Dimension Items) from anywhere (rifts, loot, rewards, buy, etc) and then you can place them in a Dimension. The Dimension editor has features like rotate, scale, etc. You can place items anywhere you want in your Dimension, even floating in the air.

So. You can build pretty much anything you'd like.

Dimensions - are they of any use or are they just decorative?

ie. can you put storage boxes/chests/whatever into one, give access to mates, thus providing communal storage?

You cant do much with your first one, but from what I heard many of the later ones contain vendors and such.
