EQ2 macro question

When I switch to a new mob in Elite and Boss modes, I press manual assist keymap that resets the rotations to step 1, etc.

Do you use a manual assist for all assisting? or do you also assist+broadcast?

I had been "curing" my main tank to death because it was the only spell being cast.

I tried the "steps" thing I talked about in my first email. some teams are MUCH more powerful because of this change although I think the pally's didn't show as big of a change.
I'm using 4 buttons, 1 is mostly melee or short range, 2 is long range or pulls, 3 is a generic single targe dps button and 4 is the AoE button.
some macros still have 3-4 in them.
healing was spread out and cast apx 1/3 of the time on any button press (or in 1/3 of the macros)

I did the Palace of Sabaron with a level 60 team and knocked out the first two bosses without much issue, It was late and I couldn't finish Sabaron himself, I'll try him again later.
The pally's failed miserably here, they are out of juice before I can get the first boss down 10%.
