Thread: EQ2 Healer

  1. #1

    Default EQ2 Healer

I am curious which healer everyone likes for boxing. I tried the mystic up to 50 but didn't care that once I took damage I had to work harder to get health back with weak heals. I am using a warden now that works miles better but am still curious about a templar or inquisitor. Any advice for a rookie?

I have a mystic and a warden in my group (currently L34). I use the mystic's wards in every assist/dps/dot/debuff macro and backup heal with it. The warden does main healing with using dots/debuffs but no main dps actions to be free to heal. I think the warden does ok as a main healer. I haven't tried out the templar or inquisitor yet. I may end up having to bring in one of them at a later level, or get the healer merc.

The Inq merc is the best healer 8) I might be doing 6 toons again though so i can do random instances. I have a 78 warden if i need. Can you mentor+do random dungons?

I really need to try out an inquistor but the Warden is... Amazing. Extremely fast heals and I keep up the main HoT Photosynthesis 24/7 I just recast it whenever it is up and it keeps my tank usually topped off on any fighter so far (lvl 84)

I'm partial to the warden right now, I love the heal over time and AoE heals. The team with the warden does pretty good for only having one healer, it has broken down on the huge mobs. I may need a second healer on that team for hard content.
I haven't tried an inquisitor yet, I may look into it.

Maybe the smart move for me (only box 5 and use a merc if really needed) is to keep the warden and use the Inq merc (since he is the best healer merc) as needed. Would save me from having to worry about curing as much (something I haven't really figured out a way to do efficiently). It is nice to find a community of boxers who are as helpful as you all.

    Appreciate the feedback.

Curing isn't actually that bad at all. I try to go as simple as possible.
While spamming my main dps attack if the tank needs a cure I hit the cure button which /cancel_spellcast and then casts cure.
if anyone else needs a cure it should be everyone so I cast the group cure which is the same cancel macro on top while continuing to spam dps.
i throw the wardens second group cure in the same macro. Since you are spamming dps it won't queue up the second one and will proceed to continue doing heals/dps until you need to again. The man group cure is on a 12 second cool down so it is usually always up when needed.
from what I have read the inquisitor shines even more for cures as apparently they get 2 group cures plus their epic/ mythical weapon has a group cure on it too making them have 3.

The bigger things about healers down the road too is their specials that stop damage. For instance the warden epic is massive. It's a 12 second immune/absorb on whoever. They also get tortoise shell which is on a low cool down of 3 minutes. Whenever in a fight where there is going to be some aoe damage pop it. If I still need more after that my troubadour gets a very similar ability on a 10 minute cool down so I pop that. Giving me about 50 seconds of immunity to aoe's as long as I'm not being targeted.

there are many more and each of the healers gets something good. It's just hard to find the data.

Last thing on healers! It's also dependent on your tank type too. I went with a mystic for a monk tank because monks tank by avoidance so an inquisitor that heals by getting hit is not as effective as a ward. (This is all hypothetical though because I'm not sure how it pans out at end game) from what I have read all of the healers hold their own one way or another I just like to try and maximize group synergy out of the gate.

My main healer.. on my highest team is a warden. i never had any issues. because its a disease based team.. i also have a defiler ( evil shaman ) who has debuffs and buffs as well as dps ( and good off heals ).

Any of you doing 6 toons on one PC?.. if so, what CPU start you using?

What do you mean by CPU start? Using an I-7 newer one. I'll have to check when I am on my oc but it only uses 25% CPU running 6

6 toons on one pc here. Still using Lga 1366 boards with a i7-980 (6-core) combined with the evga gtx 680 ftw 4gb card. I have a little bit of cpu load (more than wow) but no where near max.

For single curing I have a video feed of the cure section of ProfitUI. This works really well as I have the mystic and warden video feeds and I can double cure quickly when needed. I'll try to get up a screen shot in the morning when I get home.
