    Default Anyone boxing EQ1?

Anyone box this anymore? I recently restarted, and am playing on test, which is free with all expacs and is basically gold membership for free. Just curious what groups others are playing around with. i'm thinking of mostly pet classes with a puller, a bard and maybe a shaman for heals, slows and dots.

I haven't started, but am thinking of a foray into EQ I land.

I was leaning towards six boxing, with:
    - Bard: Puller, Dot Buffs, Speed, HP/Mana Song, Haste & OverHaste
    - Mage: Call of the Hero, Tank Pet, Summoned Pet Items
    - 3x Necro: Pet, Dot DPS, Fear
    - Druid: Heals, Buffs, Ports

I had a necro, and really liked the class.
I've played a mage, but only fairly low.
My main was a Druid, when I played the game a lot and I have three accounts, which will be considered Silver.

Back in the day, I four boxed, on four machines: Druid, Cleric, Rogue, and Bard.
Obviously not all that optimally, giving the need to twist bard songs but bouncing between systems.
My roommates had a Shaman and a Warrior, so we were a full group.

It looks like quite a few box this game, from looking at the SoE forums.
Three box, without software, seems quite common...
That gets you three mercs including a Tank and a Healer.
I'd imagine software boxing would make it that much easier.
A healer merc would be nice support, to make healing easier.
A tank merc is stronger than a PC tank, until the PC has around 900-1000 AAs.
If you go with a Pet Tank, any NPC/PC in melee takes threat, so you cannot have melee classes with a Pet tank on your team.

They had/have the equivalent of instanced raids, with multiple groups.
If you want to go that route, you might want a real tank, etc.

For single group content, I'm told by EQ I boxers, pretty much anything is going to work, all the way up.

They also recently removed the majority of the non-Gold restrictions; all races and classes are open.
For $50 of so, can basically buy everything you'd want to have the game, less the two most recent expansions and an AA cap of 1000... which should last for several months of play.
You'll want Gold, somewhere around 60th or 70th, purely to allow for additional AAs to keep most classes average-strong for their level; 1K AAs won't cut it at 80th or 90th.

And you can buy Krono (in cash, out of game) or with in-game platinum (from someone who bought it out of game) and 'use it' in game for a month of Gold play.
    So that gets us:
    a) buy Krono, and sell it in game, for a legal method to buy platinum... when starting out; and
    b) once established in game, and generating your own platinum, a method to have Gold subs without spending real cash.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

I have been 3 boxing EQ1 w/ISB since January. In the past, I boxed using some other s/w from Lax I have actually been enjoying it quite a bit.

Currently I have an 87 druid, and 85 mage and chanter. I use 3 mercs, with the healer being a J2 (one account is gold, other two are Silver). Other two mercs are tank and wizzy.

If you play time-limited sessions, like I do, I HIGHLY recommend that one of your boxed chars be a druid or wizzy, for fast transport and positioning of your group. Just like people turned to boxing to avoid lots of time wasted looking for a group, having ports available will save time wasted just getting to where you want to go. If you play very long sessions, then this is obviously a much smaller consideration. Wizzy will give you MUCH better DPS, but druid will add LOTS of other things (SoW/FoE, heals, debuffs, etc).

I started playing EverQuest back at launch in '99, and played pretty heavily with the wife until the launch of WoW. We did 'old school' multiboxing with 3 accounts, and eventually had 6 accounts before it was all said and done, all playing on different computers before things like ISboxer were available. I came back to EQ a little over a year ago after I quit WoW (Fuck Cataclysm, never even touched the Panda expansion), using ISboxer with all 6 accounts and I've been having a blast! The game has changed so much over the years, but with the exception of them changing the old starting zones, I love it! My team consists of a Shadowknight, Druid, Enchanter, Magician, Necromancer and Wizard. We're level 80 on the Cazic-Thule server. The best part is, I'm only paying for 1 of the accounts, the rest are F2P.
"Twilight is upon me. And soon, night must fall". My days in WoW are over, but I'm back to where it all started, EverQuest!

Been playing for a few weeks now, and must say i'm enjoying it. mercs take alot of the stress out of multiboxing, especially a healer. I've got my 66 ranger with 70ish aa's up to 83 with almost 600 aa's, fully suited and booted thanks to a class act i met a couple of days ago. My 65 shaman is now 67, had like 10 aas now almost 400, and my moms druid, which was 62 with no aas is now 66 with 200ish. Hoping to get my j5 merc quest done on at least the ranger, and maybe my buddy can hook me up and pl up my shaman and druid for me so i can do it on all 3. If not i can always headshot pl em myself. Got a start on my second boxed group, with a 2 necros and a mage at 32-33. need to get them up into the 50's so i can aa grind a bit.

I'm playing on test, which is an awesome server, completely free, double xp, full gold member status with all of the veteran aa's available for free. people are constantly announcing no drop loot in general chat, or mailing tradeable stuff to people just because, and you also see people Pl complete strangers. Friendliest MMO experience I've had, and thats after 12 years of playing Diablo 2, diablo 3, EQ and WoW. Boxxing 3 with 3 mercs is great fun, if your in the right spot ya can literally afk for hours and let the mercs pl ya, just make sure you have enough plat to pay them. I really wish you could bank more than 30 AA's at a time, because I'd have alot more if that was the case.

I used to 4 box, back in 2003-4, a ranger, shaman, necro and druid, sometimes swapping a cleric for the necro or having a friend show up with a chanter and cleric. Was on 2 rigs, alot of alt tabbing and crap but was somewhat fun. I'm leaning towards shaman, druid, bard, mage and 2 necros now, although i might drop the shaman for another necro or mage. i thought about a beastlord, but either hes gonna be tanking or sitting there doing jack besides pet attack and some subpar buffs. right now I've solo played my bard to 22, and a necro on another account to 14. everything is on test atm, but thinking of heading to a live server. Right now I can't log in my old accts with the ranger and shaman, which were my best accts, with the money and good stuff on them, seems like they got hacked because even the secret question isn't working.

The mercs are nuts, even the j1 up to around level 65 or so. I'm now 83 on my ranger, and its losing some steam. I have a team of 2 necros and a mage in the hole right now, with 2 tanks and a healer and they have been killing red con mobs, and pulls of up to 4 yellows at a time without any help from anything besides the pets.this is at 53, and the pets are all 48 or lower since i'm leveling to fast to keep up with my spells.

You need to google HEADSHOT. Ranges are the best PLrs in the game! It would be to long for details.. But at sometime in your 40s you can start putting AAs in Head Shot.. this allows you a good chance to insta kill lower level humanoid mobs, light blue/green cons. But there are places to do this where you will be killing them so fast, you will rack up AAs like crazy and at higher levels you can PL players. A lot more to it though, read up on it.
