To that end, I think we should find a way to address the 2 primary topics here, and then, as a community, respond to Blizzard.
The 2 topics:
Blizzard's Concern: Curtail botting by removing /follow mode in BG/Arena
Multiboxer's Concern: We need /follow, it is critical
Let's come up with a way to address both concerns. Here is my idea.
--Follow Mode Plan--
Communicate this to Blizzard:
----------------------------------------------------------
I am a multiboxer and we are severely broken due to the removal of /follow in Battlegrounds. Would you please take a look at this suggestion to re-enable /follow for the sake of the multiboxing community? Thanks!
1) Keep the no-follow rule in BGs
2) Add an exception for the following:
-- A) If characters que'd for the BG in the same party, flag those characters as "follow enabled to fellow party members", which persists for a single BG que, and allows for /follow
-- B) If the characters are in the same battle.net account, flag those character as "follow enabled to fellow battle.net characters", which persists indefinitely, and allows for /follow
-- C) If characters que'd for the BG in the same raid, flag those characters as "follow enabled to fellow raid members", which persists for a single BG que, and allows for /follow
The above recommendation would allow Blizzard to maintain their anti-bot removal of /follow mode, while at the same time allowing multiboxers, either via the same party, or the same battle.net, or both, to continue to utilize /follow.
----------------------------------------------------------
Would this work? If so, or after modification, we need to address the second topic: Unified Response.
Once we figure out what we want, we need a Unified Response Plan.
--My Unified Response Plan--
1) Document the plan in a forum post in a cut/pasteable format for users.
2) Everybody who has personal contacts @ Blizzard, email them the Follow Mode Plan.
3) All software developers and community leaders email their users and provide them with the link to the Follow Mode Plan. Ask them to "Submit Suggestion" within game and create a GM ticket for a suggestion.
Above all else, stay respectful and positive while we work towards getting the WoW community over this bump in the road.
Thanks!
Tim
