Default Tankadins x 5 when do they cap out on easy mode

Basically what the title says. I am back to leveling my five tankadins through instances. Did almost all of the TBC instances except for Shadow Labs and Magister's Terrace. Knocked out thre heroic TBC instances and did my first Wrath instance still with the five pallys tanking their way through trash and bosses with ease. I don't think I have done a non-dungeon quest in over 10-25 levels, when do the tankadin's hit the wall?

Right now 5 x shield toss still kills most of a pack with ease, I am pretty sure they aren't PVP viable beyond just holding nodes and being annoying. I heard MOP instances were harder but haven't tried it as my two 90s are solo-toons.

I've never ran 5 tanks, but I'd guess probably be able to do everything up to cata runs.. Might be able to do those but I really don't have enough personal experience to venture a further guess. I ran 5x ret pallies through dungeons all the way to 80. They're still 80.

the problem with 5 tanks at higher levels, they need stacks of vengeance to get reasonably high DPS. I think Monks do the most DPS atm as a tank..DKs second. But at 90. there is no reason to play 5 tanks unless you like to take forever to clear instances. I think you would have to be raid geared to do respectable damage, in comparison to what rets could do. With one tank and 4 rets+battle healer you should do fine.

My experience was that they started falling over in the cata instances where all the AoE stuff just got too crazy to stay ahead of. Granted, things may be a bit different now with some of the 5.x changes.

I ran the group as a tank, 3 rets, and a holy before as well as five rets. This was back at level 20-30 or so. It seemed the tanks just worked so much easier and was faster due to not haveing to rez a team member after each battle. I have the 2-H heirloom weapon in each of the tanks bags already so it is no issue to swap some over to ret. My end game isn't to run tanks (crazy BTW due to lack of damage) but have a team of rets for face stomping fun in BGs/Arena.

For leveling I am still rolling through Wrath instances in about 18-25 minutes (Nexus, AN, UK) and getting good XPs so don't see a reason to change what is working smoothly with little to no deaths per run. I was just wondering when I would need to switch back to a standard trinity set up. I don't want to have to quest grind Cata if I can avoid it. I would rather BG/Instance grind. I did TBC heroics until almost 71 and they were as easy as the 68 level instances due to the stat increase at 70. I was hoping the 80 jump would be just as nice. I have a max level BS/Enchanter/Inscriptionist/Tailor/Alchemist for helping the team gear, enchants, glyph, etc... so I am leveling fast in a non-RAF way. I did optimize my macros/set-up a bit and will try to post them later to see if there is anyway to make it tighter DPS-efficiency and survivability wise.

The Cata instances were a lot harder than previous ones.
Except for heroics, during the BC era.

Chances are the WotLK instances and the Panda instances will be okay.
But the Cata ones will be a bit harder.
Most any group, with 1x Tank, 1x Heals and 3x DPS seems to work for Pandaria instances.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

i played my palies as prot all the way to 80. I PLd them in Deepholm til 85. I went in Jade Serpent instance at 85 as 5 prots and I was doing ok,..but it took FOREVER to kill stuff..even trash. I changed to one prot and 4 rets and just destroyed the place. So yea.. til 80+ ( maybe 85+ i did not do the cata instances.. i PLd ) playing prots is fun and safe/easy.

Cataclysm dungeons are abnormally hard compared to everything else. Mechanics really started to change and half the class types had their abilities stripped as well like paladin tanks loosing cleanse and their absorb shield (shield is back now). Even well geared groups still had to use crowd control or risk a wipe and these same mechanics make for some bosses to just not be worth the effort to defeat.
