I downloaded Hotkeynet and am having problems getting the scripting to route the keystrokes to the second account

If on the main account i go to attack something, the slave just sits there and does nothing. I am having to manually go onto the second screen and press hot keys.

How do i get my Hotkeys to route correctly?

Start with the guides listed in the Newbie's Guide Stickie. Particularly my Newbie's Guide to Configuring a HotKeyNet Script.

If it still doesn't work after you've followed the guides, then you will need to include more detail as to what is happening, including the error messages you are getting from HotKeyNet and the script you are using.

Hi, Khatovar. I was looking through your HKN instructions (very good, thank you) as I move from dual-boxing to 5-boxing, and I noticed that your example had for the ctrl-alt-w hot key, two different paths for wow, one on a D: drive and the rest on E:. I was wondering if it was a typo or if that's how you deal with having master and slave installs with different video settings (i.e. master has high quality while slaves use low quality settings). I don't think the HKN newb wiki page mentions it.

Edit: I tried this by making a copy of the WoW directory into "World of Warcraft - Slave" and set up 5 windows, and they had different settings. I also used symbolic linking of directories (WTF and AddOns) to share configuration between them, though that ended up resulting in my having to completely recreate my jamba team. Luckily I only have two at the moment. PS: Seems weird that I can't make my own paragraphs in messages.

Yes, when I wrote that, I had my master and slave on 2 different drives, but that was more space concerns. All of my installs are currently on the same drive, but still use separate folders. I then use Symlinks on Cache, Data, Interface and Screenshots. I don't Symlink my WTF folder because I want my accounts to be able to use different graphics settings and hold individual login settings.

Looks like you used the indent button, for paragraphs just hit the enter key a few times, the indent is more for shifting entire blocks of text for code or guide formating.

I actually didn't symlink the WTF folder itself, but the Account folder under it. I guess that was the right thing to do because it keeps separate graphics settings between the two copies. I also symlinked my different accounts underneath that directory so that Altoholic would be able to access information between accounts. Seems to work. What goes in the Cache and Data folders that they should be symlinked? On a possibly related note, is there an easy way using HKN to select your wow account for each window? WoW will default to the last account logged in for that particular copy of WoW, but if I have four slaves sharing one copy, that means all four slaves default to the same WoW account. I guess it's not that big of a deal as you only do it at login but it'd be nice to have something to do some of that mechanical stuff for you.

One blank line gets collapsed by the forum software. Let's try for two blank lines (Ah-ah-ah). Three, three blank lines... Four blank lines... Five blank lines... Well I'm going to assume at this point that this trend will continue regardless of how many times I hit the enter key/how many blank lines I put in. Perhaps there's a setting somewhere I need to turn on, or maybe I need to turn bbcode off or something. Bleah.

The spacing issue appears to be a function of which "editor" I have selected. The "enhanced WYSIWYG" editor collapses everything, making it not very WYSIWYG at all. I'm using the "standard" editor now which seems to get the results I expect. So that issue is resolved at least.

What goes in the Cache and Data folders that they should be symlinked?

I Symlink the entire folder for both. Those are all the game files. This means you only have to patch one WoW, and supposedly that will reduce load times and increase performance. I don't know about the latter as I've not compared with vs. without symlinks on any of my recent systems, but symlinking the folders {Data and Cache} means, the slave installs take up next to no room at all.

The login information is stored in \World of Warcraft\WTF\Config.wtf. Right now I have a separate WoW folder for each toon so no one account is running from the same folder. As I stated above, with the Cache and Data folders symlinked, each slave folder only takes up a fraction of the space on the drive. With the WTF folder not linked, each slave maintains their own location for writing to their Config.wtf, which should save each login independently instead of overwriting.

If you want to share specific information between addons, I would suggest only symlinking those files or file locations instead of the entire Account folder. IE, only symlink the \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNT NAME\SavedVariables and/or \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNT NAME\SERVER\TOON\SavedVariables folders instead of World of Warcraft\WTF\Account.
