Thread: Gear mods

    Default Gear mods

Keeping up with adaptive mods (hilts/barrels, armouring, mods and enhancements) is becoming a mini game in itself. Between two characters and companions all with various pieces of adaptive armour it is becoming a struggle to keep them all up to date.

It seems that planet commendations are the real currency of this game as that is where the best mods are coming from.
I can occasionally find a few mods on the GTN but not enough to count on.

How does everyone else keep their adaptive gear up to date?

SWToR - 2 box - Shadow and Sage - Shelved when Australian servers moved to the US.
Everquest 2 - 4 box - Bruiser, Swashbuckler, Dirge and Warden - on sabbatical.
Diablo 3 - 3 box - Barbarian, Monk and Crusader - got bored.
Wildstar - 2 box - Stalker+Medic and Engineer+Spellslinger - punched out after the first month.

When i used to play SWTOR, i never really cared about keeping them to update to date til max level. If your leveling then youll replace the most recent mods fairly quickly. I really only kept my weapons up to date. If i ran into issues doing Heroic quests i would then upgrade my armor to the proper level.

Cybertech! You can craft all your own armor and mods!

How painful is crafting in SWToR though?
I generally don't have time for crafting...I get about 3 hours over the weekend and a few hours during the week to play.

I would focus on the primary stat item (armoring slot for armor, hilt for sabers and barrels for ranged weapons) for each piece of gear and upgrade the rest as it came.

As in WoW and SWTOR, Crafting to me is mostly painful if you didn't collect the mats as you leveled.

It is really easy to craft green armor and mods if you are questing! Just make sure you have savaging. If you keep up to date with greens then you will be able to do all ur quests at level.

If you can also get underworld trading then you can get the mats for the blue armors and mods!!

Lastly, for the future... Once you get your first two toons to 50 then you can run your alts through flashpoints and heroics to gear up. Just take one lvl 50 and one lowbie toon through the fp and give all the gear to the lowbie!

Cool, thanks for the replies. I did some reading and it does seem pretty easy to craft the green mods. The time consuming part seems to be reverse engineering to get the better quality mods.

I picked up Cybertech and Artifice on my top two chars and have their gathering skills up to date now.

That is interesting Riiker, most other games I have played if there was an overlevel character in the group then you wouldn't get loot. The lowby character also get exp?

I now have Cybertech and Artifice up to my level on the Jedi Consulars (only 23 so pretty easy). Another team (Smuggler and Guardian) have picked up Armstech and Biochem as well. As you said crafting is pretty easy if you keep it up to date.

You definitely get loot, but no xp for killing mobs. You do get XP for killing each boss, completing the FP, and you should pick up the daily FP quest at the fleet.

I ran a FP once each day starting as soon as I was high enough level to be eligible for the next FP. That way you end up stockpiling orange gear with blue quality mods for about 4 levels, then you can put them on. I updated my gear with all blues every 4 levels doing this.

Hi, first time posting here although I've been reading these forums since my wow boxing days.

I've been boxing swtor since early access (Dec 2011) and have several teams both Imperials and Republics on the Beregen Colony RP server across 8 accounts (all subs)

I'm also a heavy crafter and have all the crafting professions maxed, each having pretty much all the known schematics (except for the level 50 schematics which drop in Operations) for Moddable Orange gear and Purple gear, armorments, mods, enhancements and augments.

Although I can probably craft seperate gear for all my characters from level 9ish to 50 without breaking a sweat (got around 500mil total), I don't like wasteing the purple armorments, mods, enchancements and augments I've made for each character and re-use them over and over.

However, to do this you'll need a Legacy level of at least 10 (mine are all 25+, easy when you have a couple 50's 4-man teams doing dailies everyday ) and buy 8 to 9 Legacy Bound gear sold on Drumund Kaas (for Imperials) or Coruscant (for Republic).

When a character out-grows a set of purple mods, I just send them the empty Legacy bound gear, have them put the old mods in them, send them to my level 50 banker character (since the character replacing the mods has to be at the level or higher to put mods into gear), replace them with the upgrades and send them back to the character who will pull them out and put them in his gear. Rinse and repeat till level 50.

Although this only works for characters on the same account. ( I have all my Tanks on my main or second account )
