    Default Holiday Traditions

What holiday traditions do you have? What's your favorite one? Do you go somewhere special, do something in particular, eat something specific, etc? We'd love to hear from anyone that wants to share how you celebrate the holidays!

Holiday traditions don't have to be anything super amazing. I'll share a couple simple ones of mine.

One is a tradition is what I call the "Under the Tree Book", which is a tradition my family had when I was growing up that I now do with my kids. On Christmas morning, each child will find an unwrapped book under the tree with their name on it. They are allowed to get the book immediately and read it while waiting for the time to open the rest of the presents. It's good for keeping them distracted!

Another tradition that I started as an adult is to make Monkey Bread for Christmas breakfast. No, it's not bread made of monkeys! I actually do the really easy, I-don't-know-how-to-cook-much Pilsbury version (http://www.pillsbury.com/recipes/gra...6-fcb5baebbc19). I can get it ready the night before and pop it in the oven in the morning. My husband and kids devour it every time!

my wife and I always go see a movie on xmas afternoon. Been doing it since we were dating. It was originally used as an excuse to get away from either family. "Oh hey, we gotta get going, movie starts in 45min". hehe

The man will be working for Christmas, not that we celebrate it anyway. The only tradition we embrace is Christmas sales, lol.

We always used to leave some Christmas cake out and a Brandy for Santa.
My Dad explained, it was cold out there so the brandy would warm Santa up, but it could only be a half brandy because he was driving the sled...

We don't do any particular traditions, except play lots of games and go shooting with whoever (and it's always someone) got a new weapon for Christmas.

Back before the kids where all grown, we would let them open one present on Christmas Eve, then they would awaken at about 5 in the AM, getting every one else up.

On Christmas Eve, I'd usually take the boys out to shoot a turkey, or Wild Boar, some kind of dead animal. Then we would cook it over night, to be ready the next day.

Christmas afternoon always meant a movie for us.

This year wasn't near as hectic, What with my wife being in a wheelchair now, due to her knees, and the supposed cold front, (that turned out we never had) we told every one to just stay put. Didn't want them to get stranded out here.

Anyways, I made a nice Christmas meal for the wife and I, and we enjoyed a quite day at home. It was really pleasant, except for the 2 and a half million telephone calls that came in today from Family and friends.

I heard the wife talking about having the family out on New Years, which is cool, that way they can crash for the night, if they have too much to drink, and the Grandkids can play on My PC. (They love my machine, cause it has lights LOL)
