Default Considering Dual Boxing 2v2. Can you help me out with some basic question?

I did a search for a similar topic, but answers were very basic. Firstly, I apologize because I would imagine this has been asked before, but I'm hoping something a little more specific then other threads.

I know 2v2 lacks burst and requires a lot of coordination, and will be harder for dual boxing, but I still want to try it. Here's what I'm considering: Either 2 melee or ranged of the SAME class. I'm not going to have two different classes even if they are both melee/range. I have some questions though.

    - In your experiences as dual/multi boxing, is range considerably easier for dual boxing over melee? I've read a few forums saying that positioning and delay of your following characters can make it hard to hit your opponent. If I go melee, are there things you can do to make it easier? Or no problems?

    - If I do two melee classes, or ranged, what classes would be easy for arena (Assuming that anyone here has tried competitive 2v2) I was thinking maybe double warrior, for the survival if one character is cc'd for a long time, but may have mobility issues. Obviously I won't have a healer, so I'll need something that doesn't require tons of kiting or LOSing.

    - What software should I get? If any. If I have all of my keys the exact same for both mirror classes, do you still need software? (Sorry if this is asked a lot)

If I think of something else, I'll bump it in future posts. I would appreciate it if you could give me a solid genuine answers! Thanks!

    Classes are up to you.
With two in Arena, possibly Ret Paladin, Warrior or Frost DK; any two of those or two of one of those.
You could try 2x Heals in battlegrounds.

Honestly, I'd go 3/4/5 boxing... playing more towards the strength of boxing... the burst to burn things down.
But you can try 2 if you like; nothing says you cannot enjoy two or change to more down the road.

For software, get a trial of IS Boxer.
Or if you're comfortable writing scripts/adapting the examples given, go with HKN.

    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.

I've found ranged to be harder in general due to having to face your target, stop to cast, etc. If you really want to do this, I'd go with melee.

You won't gain much of the advantages of multiboxing in PVP, namely synchronizing burst and spells, with only two. You're probably already aware of 2v2 and how it works - by 1200 MMR, which is a terribly low rating, people already know how to PVP - they use (some of) their abilities, burst, cc, and work with their partner to some extent. They are even fully geared a lot of the time. They aren't great players, and yeah they can be pretty sloppy - freezing up instead of reacting to unexpected changes in strategy, using the wrong spell, overwriting or breaking cc, etc. - but they know how to PVP.

I may be wrong but I feel like trying to dual box 2v2 would be about as effective as running 1v2 with a good class - rogue, mage, or feral. You'll hover around 1100-1500 MMR forever. There are a few streams of gladiator mages who do 1v2 and they don't go much higher than 1500 or so despite their godlike reflexes and epic playing... a couple of 1400 mmr retards can eventually kill them.

I think there is a lot more potential in 3v3 to be honest, and some have had success in that bracket playing all three.

I tried to do SHM/DK/WAR last season in 3s. It was horrible. The number of CCs out ensured that I had zero chance of winning in a good bracket. My brain literally shut down trying to process all of it.

Same here. I dont have the ability to play more than 2 types of classes at the same time. I can play 3 decently in pvp but 2 of them have to be the same class.

JellyRawls - I treat 2s as practice for 3s. 2s are not competitive at all as illustrated by heyaz's post. So have fun, try out new things, try all the comps you want and find what is fun to you, refine your macros, gather arena awareness and hit your point cap while your at it.

Interesting. I wonder how I'd fare if I replaced the DK with a second warrior?

    I'm getting ideas...

I'm also thinking about this. How would 2x mages or 2x hunters do in 2vs2 for caps / fun not so serious.

I was thinking of all the CC's 2x mage can bring, and their initial nuke Pop mirror mage sheep other guy, resheep if have to / silence while nuking the other guy.
Also having 4x RoF seems like fun
