My mother has had Hughesnet satellite internet (that fat guy you mention lives down the road from her, I think) for the last few years up until about 3 months ago. Her experience was 2500-5000 pings, constant disconnects and the general inability to do just about anything but non-elite, quest type playing. She boxes just two toons but she had to stop regularly to let her alt catch up to her main. Instances were pretty much out of the question. By the time she'd attack, my 3 other guys would have already killed whatever we were attacking.

    Your mileage may vary.

Ok man I am on the verizon Mifi right now. I have 20g cap and i ALWAYS HIT IT. Anyways, I run about 100-200 ms usually unless in AV. If a large group of people get together then I drop to super lag.

When I run 3 toons i dont not have that issue. 5 kills me most of the time. I cannot run any chat programs either.

The good thing is that you can turn on 4g to download things, and then revert back to 3g for constant connection.

Atlink and provaluenet are supposed to be awesome, but I have to build an 80 ft tower for signal...

You may be direct LOS of to them. I discussed about them putting in a buisness connection at my house, and they said it was possible.

I would call @tlink first they were cheaper, they will come try to find signal, and If you need a 30ish ft tower i can give you one. Its an extendable rohn.

Def Mifi though...you wont be disappointed if its from verizon...it will lag though, and it does get hot.

I tape mine to the back window for signal. When it gets hot and laggy i tape an ice bag to it and it cools it off.

It is possible to 5 box without lag....it depends on the situation.

I have 4 boxed raids without lag.

Oh nice, and I may take you up on that tower then, I'll just have to make some calls then with @tlink.

On the heat issue, I had heard, if one removes the battery, and just runs it from the wall itself, a lot of the heat problems goes away. It seems the battery doesn't know when it's full, so keeps trying to charge, and in doing so generates the majority of the hear with the MIFI.

Now I haven't tested it yet, but I may in the future. I'll prob have you out sometime this spring anyways, for my local Friends get together. I have a group that meets about once or twice a year, from the old Star Trek Game, Starfleet Command. We usually eat some dead animal, and then bullshit all day, over Beers, or scotch. (Which works ,as it leaves all the Canadian Whiskey for me. :P)
