Default At what point do you leave AV?

Maybe a strange question to some, but I hate being a drag on my team. It would be much faster to gear up if I queued random BGs, but with crappy gear we rarely win (which makes it not that fast afterall).

For those that are similar to me and hide in the 40 man BGs until you can contribute, at what point do you leave? I have 4/5 pieces of set gear, but the rest of it stinks. I'm also having trouble finding a second weapon for my enhancement shamans (primary weapon is from that scenario, 450 ilvl).

I normally just stick it out. if it isnt going my way i just start farming kills. say the enemy has 2 of our towers and is pinning us in our base and all their towers are up, i either just hide in boss room and let em win or go out and start killing. but i dont think deserter buff is worth it.

    I do AV almost exclusively.
When it is IoC weekend, I switch to that.

If it is EotS weekend, I generally bounce between AV and EotS.

Haven't tried the new Powerball, but that is supposed to be boxer friendly.

Boxed I dislike like: Gilneas, SotA, Twin Peaks, WSG...
I don't especially care for: AB boxing either; the one with the train tracks doesn't sound to be that fun boxing...
Random gets a bunch that I don't like.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

I typically never afk out due to the debuff. If I'm in a small BG and it's a guaranteed loss I'll either try to farm kills, or if it's a really organized premade (ran into a KT premade in powerball and i couldn't even get kills) I just wait it out and get my points for the loss. The loss is a lot quicker if you're taking up half or 1/3 of the team and stop contributing.

Powerball is the only 10 man I can consistently win, at least well over 50%, but I can tell within the first few minutes if that's the case. I rush in and try to wipe as many as possible; if I end up with most of my team still alive and/or can rez a few dead DKs we can usually win. If it's a close one like 1600-1000 kind of deal, you still get a lot of honor due to battlegrounds with points awarding a chunk of honor the more you get. Same goes with EOTS or Gilneas or AB, hold a few nodes till the end and still get decent honor.

I can't figure out Silvershard Mines to save my life. No matter how much I kill, how many carts I steal (I go wipe a group following a cart) we still seem to be way behind in points. Need to come up with a strategy for that one. There is only one spawn point for each team so you don't have to worry about your guys being split up, but the tricky part is running the carts which is what gets you points.

I have always hated IOC but stay till the end no matter what due to high honor. In AV, as a 5 boxer I can't seem to make a big difference; back capping is hit or miss especially as horde with the difficulty or running toons up those towers and then just getting stuck around a corner or getting thunderstormed/typhooned out. I think it'd be much easier to back cap an alliance tower, but then again there are LoS issues for ranged and not enough room to run around as melee. For defending Galv I need at least 5-10 others to come with me as 5v20 just doesn't work out that well, too much cc.

I cannot stand SoTa, having your toons split up right off the bat is a game killer, and then spawning all over the place if you die sucks as well. If you don't get the hell off the beach really fast you can just be snared/sapped/whatever and all you can do is pray for a respawn all the way back at the yellow gate.

I think what he's asking is, when do you stop hiding in the zerg in 40-man BGs and move on to other stuff.

I don't think so. He's asking when do we stop doing AV & IoC and do the 10 & 15 man BGs. I guess it's typical for boxers to do the 40 man BGs because with little to no gear, we can at least help a little whereas if we go into a 10 or 15 man BG without gear, we're a liability. And I think the answer is until you have enough gear and experience. Enough gear answer is at least be able to '2 shot' the enemy and know how to use your key abilities to survive a mini zerg against your team.

Pretty much. I think their responses are on point, though. It sounds like most hide in the 40-man, or farm HKs. Since I'm only running 4, and my odd account out has two level 90s, I queue with all 5, look at what BG it's going to be with the odd man out, and then leave queue with the others if I don't like it. The one toon gets an AFK marker, but I just log in with another 90 and repeat. If I don't like the new random that pops then I just use the 4 and queue AV. It's worked pretty well, but it will be a horribly long grind to PvP weapons.

I think Blizz screwed up big time with how hard it is to get PvP weapons, and how big of a difference there is with and without. They really needed to make an honor version, even if they were 442 ilvl as long as they had PvP power.

My current offhand is like ilvl 413... it sucks. However, I have well over 1/2 my slots with honor gear now, so I am getting better at surviving, but the damage is still lacking. Right now my ascendance burst will kill a toon in about 3-4 seconds, but it's not a global like Krup. My PvP power is only about 13% so there is lots of room for improvement.

Yeah, I guess I wasn't clear. Like you said, I was asking when peeps have enough gear that they feel comfortable doing random BGs instead of just grinding honor in AV or IOC. When most of the BGs are 10 mans, and you make up about half the team, lack of gear makes it impossible to win. I'm just hopeful that when I have gear it will be similar to when I was leveling up - as long as I wasn't at a major disadvantage I was demolishing BGs, even 10 mans. Flag carriers never had a chance with the enhancement burst.

Most definitely enhance. Have you not seen Krup's video? It's the great hope for MOP, in my opinion.
