Default ugh so about that hunter bandwagon

I don't understand why everyone is all over these guys for pvp? I have leveled 9 to 85 and I get wrecked when someone that can root/stun/fear attacks me. The hunters won't face the target without using follow to make the face the right way. Any melee class that gets up in my face means game over. At 85 I didn't have a hard time killing people with my 9dks, but 90s blow up my hunters np. They usually CC my main, which means I have to switch windows if I want the hunters facing the right way. It's all too much to do during a battle. I'm just not seeing where these guys are getting their props. Back to the shelf they go.

I thought that hunters were the PvE flavor of the month. Might just be their dps that everyone likes.

I think they are very very fun to level up, but so far thats all I know about.

I was quite angry as well when I started my hunter team and didn't immediately wipe the entire BG and get wrecking ball numerous times in a row... I thought this shit was meant to be easy.

ya now my hunters are 90 there iffy but hunters taken a lot off hot-fixing on buggy pets (doing to much dmg).

the prob atm in pvp is the gear gap. they nufled the honor gear so much now that honor vs conquest players are so far out its unreal (on the ptr in full conquest gear i can take on 10+ players on live am lucky to kill one in the crafted pvp gear on am at 308k hp up with players at 390-420k.

but i can hit crazy numbers on dummy's with cool downs. still love the group pvp just feels wrong :S. then again i know i had prob in the 1st season in cata with my death kights being undergeared.

Hunter is easy to play, but hard to master ;-)
Really good (single)hunters can deal with 2 and more people at the same time (Zumio and Brang for example).

But our mobility as multiboxers is pretty low, so we have to stand while casting. That makes us a prey for melees.
Narrow escape can help a lot.

I never got the feeling that there was a multiboxing hunter bandwagon. I was under the impression that most thought it would be insane damage but lacks the survival tools in a multiboxing environment - ones that solo players can pull off but are difficult for us. Pretty similar to mages. If someone could effectively play D with a group of mages they'd be very strong.

Now ret pallies - that was a bandwagon without success (to date). I'd say current bandwagon is enhancement shamans. DKs are pretty much permanently on the list making them less of a bandwagon and more of a staple - kind of like elemental shamans.

Well, they worked great in PVE for me up until they nerfed the crap out of the off-heals.

Well I was reading on here that hunters were awesome now in pvp with the range of their weapons not affecting them anymore (in close quarters). Many in my guild urged me to level them as well. They are awesome if you can catch someone 25-60 yards away. It's almost guaranteed dead in 1-2 seconds with 9 hunters. Just doesn't make up for the ones that make it through and embarrass you badly

I've leveled up hunters in the past to 65 in Burning Crusade and they didn't feel right. I just leveled up some more to .. 14. (Ya I know) and there was still that feeling of.. hmm something isn't right. It's important to try out the class and see if it feels right to you. The best reasoning I think is hunters are what Dorutea said, kiting kings. As a multiboxing team that is extremely hard to pull off. When you can face smash with so many other classes.

I imagine in a 5v5 multiboxer vs multiboxer, the one with the hunters has the potential to completely destroy the other player due to the fact all abilities are instant and at 40 yard range with an additional 15-20 yard jump back. Under normal circumstances though they will be at a disadvantage for multiple single players.

I have 5 hunters. If I had to do it again, I might, might put in a druid for heals, but I still like them as they are.

I use my pets as grenades. If people are up in your face, that is kinda (your fault/not good/not going to work). I have yet to be able to tank a person in my face. But I have yet to been unable to kill a person that doesn't burn almost most all cooldowns and still die if I catch them at 50+ yards. Use humanoid tracking on your main. Add beast if you are scared of druids/shammy (wolf). Make sure hidden tracking is on. It won't show up too far away, but anything helps. If you are standing still guarding, you can use camoflauge (spelling, sorry).

It depends on the place you are playing at (defending a flag, guarding an entrance, etc). But you have traps, 5 of them, put them on round robin and lay them in a circle around you about 15 yards out. Have a flare handy to put down if you get spooked or see a stealther coming (he stealths on his way up to you). You can't have pets on auto-aggro anymore, but Blizzard thought that was too good. At least make sure on auto-assist.

You can see people coming at least from 60+ yards on mini-map or main screen. Turn down ground clutter and turn up viewing distance. I can't be sure, but I think viewing distance might have to be done in config file. Throw pets at person, but don't hunter's mark yet, don't give them a chance to auto-target you, make sure they target pets first from the pets attack. If they close to 45 yards, get ready to put in a rotation of concussive shot, tranq shot (for buff removal), serpent sting (to get a DOT on them so they can't get out of combat/stealth) and fill in with kill command/arcane shot. Constant concussive shots with pets intimidations should keep them at least at some range. Next if you have room to move back, do so, you have aspect of the pack that doesn't daze anymore, just looses speed with glyph. You also have 5 traps waiting for them between you and them, so even if you back out of your circle of traps, they will run right into them.

For pets, make all ferocity, you can change specs of pets from anything to anything (ferocity croc, ferocity buzzard, ferocity snake, etc). Look for one that does a slow, it used to be hyena, then changed to croc. You can get a buzzard or bear (I like buzzard for annoying sound and flapping in their face), to lower damage and get multiple people tagged for HKs. I like a stam buff and webbing of silithid. I like webbing and stats buff of shale spider. I have multiple sets of pets for different things. I like 5 wyverns (sorry for spelling) for cold slow and AOE. I like 5 spirit beast cats, both for stat buff (mastery) and heal and stealth. You can just use 5 cats at first until you get Gondria(s). I like a mixed pets for not thinking situations. I put them in a [nopet] situation so it calls them if I have no pets out of they despawned, etc.

I will throw my pets at people that are 80+ yards away sometimes to make them think about it. Sure my pets will despawn at 75 yards, but they don't like to think about trying to get to me, slowed and having 5 red ferocity kill commanded pets in their face all the way to get to me. They sometimes turn around and try a different way.

Yeah, stealthers will piss you off. No way around that. Use freezing traps. Use flares. Use disengage and deterrance. I like having draenei for thier GotN. 4 of those rolling on you is nice. Intimidate is your friend. And just backup with your other 4 chars if they are already facing the right way. It isn't for a fast get away, it is just to keep them from AOEing you or making you face the wrong way.

I am not an arena player, so sorry if you can't back up and see people that far away. I am mostly a BG player or world PVPer. I don't get to world PVP much, so I have to accept AV as my open world stuff. If you close on me from 80 yards to 10 to beat my face in, that is my bad. Either I was busy killing your friend and didn't watch or just got out played.
