Default How much RAM should I be running? Diablo 3 Quad Box Setup

    Hello,

I am running four Diablo 3 clients and I feel the performance could be better.

    My Setup
Asus Maximus V Gene Micro ATX
    Stock Intel 2600k CPU w/coolermaster V8
    8GB G Skill 1600DDR
    OCZ Vertex 3 160GB SSD
    Radeon 6970
    800Watt Antec PSU

I am usually pretty minimal when it comes to stuff I do and everyone always said anything over 8GB is wasted but I doubt that's true when it comes to multboxing 4+ game clients. I was thinking about purchasing another 8GB of the same ram I am running for for 4 X 4GB sticks at 16GB Total.
Looking at my system that seems to be the weakest link, thinking about OCing my CPU a tad and see how it turns out. What are you guys running for RAM and how much of it?

here is the RAM I'm running.

    Thanks,

Open the Task Manager and see how much RAM is being used when you're multiboxing. OC'ing RAM doesn't do much for real world performance.

8 gigs should be able to handle 4 instances of Diablo 3. Probably a late response but just wanted that known.

I have similar concerns. But if Ellay says 8 GB should be enough I am good with that till I give it a try. But if you get the 16 GB, let us know.

I run 32g of the exact same ram and when I run 5 copies of wow it uses about 30-40% according to my performance monitor. Does D3 use more or less than WoW?

    Hi Chivalrous,

Love the name. I seem to remember the consensus was that WoW was using around 1.5 GB ram per client. Not sure if that helps.

Great! I bet the rest of that comes from my system/other running processes. I usually have about 60 processes running when I box. 5 clients, ventrilo, isboxer, pandora, etc. or my performance monitor is full of crap.

thanks for the compliment good sir! I like yours aswell.

    I generally recommend (for Warcraft):
1GB for the OS, plus 1GB per client.
Maybe it's 1.5GB per client now...

When I box, I typically have XSplit broadcaster, Utorrent Client, iTunes, Warcraft x5, VLC Media Player and Firefox (with 15 tabs open)...
I use somewhere in the neighborhood of 10GB of ram.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.
