First, a huge thank you to all my brothers in arms.

USMC 86'-92 Spent the first few years as an Aerial Photograph interpreter, then onto Satellite (reconnaissance imagery analyst) and finally HUMINT (Human INt. Officer) during Operation Desert Storm.

Reserve for 8 years after. Between that and college, managed to get a Masters in Physics and a BS in Behavioral Science.

LOL, which lead me to be a fire chief (For a few years), and now I just run my little ranch. As a hobby, I still do thought experiments , such as trying to design a way to determine points of convergence between our known universe, and the infinite others given what we understand about (Mem) Brane theory. It can give way to some seriously Humbling , such as every time I pick my nose, I kill a few Billion in an alternate reality.

Joke in the motor pool was that during hot weather, M60s were ovens. M1s were microwave ovens.

Beginning to understand why your sense of humor is so delightfully warped.

[edit] "Here, take this hammer. Go get up on the tank and check the front slope of the turret for soft spots. And HURRY UP! When you're done with that you need to get down to the motor pool supply office before they close and get some more high-beam oil for the humvees. WHY ARE YOU STILL STANDING THERE LOOKING CONFUSED?!!!"

We also need a sky-hook, striped paint and a long weight from the warehouse. If they don't have a long-weight 2 short wights will do...

Hehe, I think that started a long time before the Marines, But Military life sure did help it along.

Speaking of Army, as a kid, me and a bunch of friends, used to go every week with the Army explorers, a youth group done by the NG up in Rogers County, OK. (I grew up in Verdigris , OK, just a hic cup away from Claremore, Will Rogers, Stuart Roosa, and Bell Star. ) Every one in my little town, I think learned, roping, Shooting, and uhm Flying just through osmosis.

Now one year, before I shipped off, we decided to go camping out on Goose Island, which is up near Oolagah lake. Only one road in, one road out. And of course that weekend it rains, and the road get's flooded out. Running out of food stuffs, on our three day trip now turned into 6, we took to fishing what we could, and shooting blackbirds. It was getting pretty damned funny, as we started taking black bird skulls and putting them around the barrels of our .22's and 30-30's for example.

That is also reason # 2 why I can't eat any kind of bird to this day. But anyways, we got smart, and took an old hippy bus out there one weekend, and stocked it full of MRE's, supplies, etc. and buried it out there on that island. It's closing in on 30 years now, and I've often wondered if it is still there. Hell, I was prepping before prepping was even a show on Cable.
