Default Does anyone know of a product to prop up my heavy video card?

    Hi all,

I have a new Evga 670 and it is 'leaning' on my Striker Extreme audio card. My motherboard doesn't really leave room, with two double wide vid cards installed, for an extra slot between the bottom vid card and the next pci slot that houses the audio card.

Matters are not helped by the fact that the audio card's pci connection should be placed a couple of millimeters further back on the card and it
is a real tight fit that warps the card a bit.

I placed a bit of that gray cardboard material my 460 2GB came in between the two cards, but I was hoping someone would know of a
third party tripod like stand that would prop up the video card. I am pretty sure, I have seen such a product.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

You need a case like this that has built in add on card support. I use that case and video card stays locked in place. I am sure there are other cases that do card support. This is the time of year that newegg puts the Lian Li cases on sale. I bought that case last Nov on sale.

edit: I looked again and that case is discounted right now. Still a little pricey but it is a great case.

What's wrong with using a bit of string? It's not like you're trying to impress a girlfriend with it or pass some state building code inspection.

I was going to suggest a product that grows on trees called a "Stick". They can usually be found lying on the ground. Break one to the size you want and prop away.

So I read Moosejaw's response and I was thinking, 5-10 dollars, not a Lian Li case... , but thanks Moosejaw!

And then I read Ughmahedhurtz, d0z3rr, and Starbuck_Jones... lol

That was funny. I know I have seen something for this. And I am a big fan of gerry-rigging where I can. I will just let it be for now.

But you did all make me feel better!

Order a Pizza and use one of those tripod thingies that hold the box lid off the cheese.

Closest thing I can think of, to a Tripod anyways.

Well, it's all in how much time and money you want to spend on this. Personally, I can't count the number of times I've used tie-wraps, zip-ties, string, rubber bands, etc. to "tweak" things in my PCs over the years. You have to consider it intelligently, of course, but there really isn't any reason to overengineer that stuff unless you're more interested in aesthetics or are mildly OCD about it.

    Good luck!
