    Default XPadder program

I purchased the XPadder program to try out and wondering if anyone else has tried it boxing or otherwise.

It allows you to emulate your keyboard and mouse using a joystick.

After a few hours of playing I have given up on it and gone back to keyboard/mouse. I do think its a good program and this would work great for some games. I just cant get used to it in WoW.

I have always wanted to be able to play WoW with my joystick, so I can play a solo toon from the couch. But nothing quite works well.

I have looked at that same program for a few years now, thinking I'm gonna give it a try. Not just for wow, but for other games also. I have that old FFXIV game controller that doubles as a PS3 controller, and yet so many games require an Xbox360 controller.

Thanks for the info on this though, as I had been curious in the past.

it doesn't work for wow. 2 basic things, wow camera turn requires holding down a key. wow needs cursor movement (independent of the camera movement) to select targets. Games like gears of war can work because there is no cursor. Moving camera = moving cursor GOW.

Also wow needs way too many keybindings.

You might be able to use it for hotkeys, for IS Boxer.
I know Lax has added support for a multitude of devices.
There is a utility to run, which converts the input into something Lax can add support for: http://isboxer.com/wiki/Input_Device...Intelceleron11

Even if the Joystick doesn't allow straight movement, it might be configured...
    Pressing forward, will send W.
    Or whatever.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

WoW doesn't "have" to use the mouse, its just easier.

You can move with the arrow keys, you can target with the tab key. Nothing that can be done with the mouse that cant be done with the keyboard.

I set it up having the control pad do the movement with WASD keys, and the joystick pad moves the mouse and x/y buttons to left/right-click. I can still click and hold to allow camera movement but in the case of using a joystick its best to have the camera set to auto.

You are correct about the keybindings though, you'd need elaborate street-fighter-like key commands to do everything. I couldn't imagine doing anything but farming herbs/ore with it.

i guess the motivation is to play wow while laying down on a couch ? At least that was my intend when I tried to use xbox controller to play wow, lol. I've been exploring various options to free me from sitting in front of the monitor to use kb/mouse. Never quite get it working. Moving cursor across the screen to select something with a controller is just too slow, you can tab the mobs. but you still have to loot, talk to npc, use mailbox etc. So at the end of the day, I still use a kb/mouse to play wow, and the best I can do is to sit on the couch and put wireless kb/mouse on a small laptop table in front of me.

Wow (not WoW) your motivation was the same as mine, and I had the same experience testing.

I had forgotten about that. I got it working with Xpadder so its doable, its just not quick.

I use it with a usb foot pedal for my emergency keybind.
Anyway, xpadder is straightforward, i didn't have any problem to use it. (And i use it with a lot of emulators too)
