I've swapped to 3 Barbarians and 1 Monk. It would be 4 Barbarians but the damage bonus 1 Monk can provide 3 Barbarians is more than enough to compensate for another Barb in the mix.
Since my last posting raving about 3 monks and a barb. It is a very solid build and it provides a lot of survivability but lacks sorely in the damage department. At least the way I parsed it out. There is a multibox streamer that runs 4 monks in a 2h build and does very well, but he also has amazing gear and the playstyle is just not what I want from a monk.
With all the changes to classes, 4 Demon Hunters is a realistic build these days. Mythaniel just made a group and is doing well. For multiboxing I think 1.0.5 is providing even better buffs for this class. Definitely worth a try and he has me considering trying them out.
4 Witch Doctors are also contenders, they always were contenders but it was a CC reliant build, now cc in that fashion is going by the wayside unless the stuns last for 3 seconds or more which doesn't come from gear procs. The pets now have massive survivability and I think for new players this is a great route to take. I'm thinking about leveling some up myself one of these days. I mean why not? Only have to do it once and if you get the hellfire ring down the road for 35% exp bonus, it's that much easier.
Also there are WD builds that pump out massive dps similar to WW barbs. It takes great gear but the end goal is still there knowing that you can pump out damage compared to other class builds that are not easily boxable.
Wizards are a little tricky, their mulitbox build which is the CM/WW lock down everything with frost nova is continually being harder and harder to pull off. Unless you have a massive amount of gold or are a glutton for punishment would shy away from this class for the time being.
Finally Barbarians, without a doubt the flavor of the month. Hell let's call it the flavor of the game until they nerf the Double Nado build. I even tried it out with 3 Barbarians at once, it works - it's just messy. Maybe after investing more gold into it and playing it more it would pay off but I currently enjoy what I have going.
Which is... 3 Barbs and a Monk, and the patch is not changing the build much.
Using Bash for fury generating, Rend with Bloodlust for the healing, and Hammer of the Ancients with Smash for the damage dealing on boss/elite fights. (With monk buffs the barbs crit for over a million, if you like big numbers).
My gear is mediocre still but I did find a great item and holding onto the gold until the patch hits to boost it up. Right now I can clear act 3 in a reasonable amount of time. It is faster than full monks, but I do miss my monks as a Rend/Hammer of the Ancient build favors the 2h.
That's my mind dump.![]()
