You can physically travel to the dungeons.
But cannot use the LFD tool.

I would go with five, not three.
Possibly with four, if your main focus was the PvP, because that's enough to blow things up in battlegrounds and allows you a fifth person to heal you on a 5's team.

Five is the magic number for dungeons.
With less than that, you need others (plentiful with the LFD tool) but then you're not in charge of everything.
They'll roll against you on drops, rather than you sending the item wherever you want it to go.

I recommend using the Recruit a Friend (RAF) feature.
Log into the account (A) (from www.worldofwarcraft.com) and send yourself two RAF (B & C) invites (to your own email).
Use the code they email you to activate each account.
Then log into B and send yourself an invite (D).
Log into C and send yourself an invite (E).
Then use retail/digital codes to upgrade the accounts to full accounts.
If cash is tight, just upgrade them to Cataclysm; you can do MoP later, as RAF only goes up to 80th.

RAF is 3x the experience for quests & kills.
Your toons need to be:
- Grouped with a character who is within +/- 4 levels;
- Who is on an account directly RAF linked;
- Killing mobs or completing quests that are not greyed out to either character;
- Toons need to be 79th or lower.

If you already have a strong booster... anyone 85+ works, tanks are great choices...
Use that toon on (A) to boost BCDE.

If you don't have a booster, start a five box set and take them up to 85th.
Have a good booster on the (A) account.

Your RAF chain will be:
A > B > D
A > C > E

With an 85+ on A, the A/B and A/C RAF links won't be valid, as BCDE will be lower levels.
However B/D and C/E will work, so they'll get the full RAF bonuses.

Level up a lot of combinations.
Basically BCDE auto follow behind A, who quests with them (everyone grouped) until they can do instances.
And then does instances, with big massive pulls while BCDE are parked at zone in; then move them up to a new safe point, and pull more...

When A has boosted toons on BCDE to 80th, stop them there and start another set.
For every even level gained (39 in total, not 40) you can give a level from a boosted account to the parent account.
So B gives A 39 levels, and C gives A 39 levels too.
Meaning, if A boosts 4x Shaman on BCDE... then you create a Shaman on A (level them to 2nd, and as close to 3rd as possible) and grant them levels up to 80th.
Also, for every two toons A boosts on BCDE, D gives B a full toon and E gives C a full toon too.
Then for every four toons boosted on BCDE, the granted levels given to (B from D & C from E) add up to another toon on A.

You might boost four sets of toons on BCDE with A.
And get six toons on A, from granted levels, two toons each on B/C from granted levels.
Plus the four toons you boosted on BCDE.

During RAF level up as much as you can stand.
More options down the road is good (never know what will be good or nerfed down the road).
Plus you can do tradeskills for gold, even if a toon is not actively played on a team.
