Disable Keymaps for Specific Groups

Since I am 10-boxing now, I have the two groups split into 2 parties of 5.

The problem I am having is mob tagging - I need to disable one group then the other so they do not compete for mobs.

So I created a new click bar that has two toggle buttons, one for each group.

This allows me to turn off KeyMaps for Group 1 or Group 2 - however this didn't work.

What I resorted to was having the characters Leave/Join an action target group (For example, Leave Death Knight Frost).

Although this works, I'd rather keep it more generic so it applies to all my groups and combination.

What I want to do is basically turn off/disable slots 1-5 or slots 6-10. Is there a better way to do this?

Turning off a Key Map only shuts off the front end -- the Hotkeys you are pressing. Since your Hotkeys for the most part translate to something like "send 1 to all windows", shutting off the Key Map in window 2 is irrelevant because it's only getting an instruction to press 1 in the game, which it can still do.

There is a proper solution for what you are doing, and it's to add a back end that can be disabled:

With this method, each character has his own interpretation of a generic idea, such as "Interrupt", and it is his own responsibility to make that translation (e.g. a DK might decide to Mind Freeze or whatever, a Shaman might use a shock, etc).

It also has an extremely simple shutoff in the form of a single Key Map that you can disable on any given character, to prevent him from doing those things (this would be the "Virtual Combat" key map in the guide).

And, there's a guy that has been working on a "complete" (all classes, specs and levels) shareable (as in you can download it and plug in your own characters with a few steps) version of this concept for WoW, with tips from me and other ISBoxer genius types. Yeah, that is what I concluded as well, which is why I ended up using an Action Target Group.

What you described and linked is kinda what I have currently setup.

I have all my WoW macros in the IsBoxer Macro library and my main KeyMap simply calls out those macros.

For example, KeyMap 8 is my Main DPS Spam. For Death Knights, it will send a bunch of keys, for Retribution Paladins, it will send other Macros.

To disable my groups, I simply remove them from the Action Target group DKs or Paladins.

This works, but once my DPS Spam includes all classes it may get cumbersome to do all combination.

Secondly, I don't see a way to make it more fine-grained. For example, if I wanted to disable a retribution paladin in slot 5 only, I don't see a way to do so at this time unless I make my Action Target group seven more fine.

If you want one of the groups to tag something, but not the other group...
You could manually move to a given window (which is part of the desired tagging group) and click an ability from there that is not broadcast.

You could add a step to your spam sequence, placing it ahead of everything else.
With a target of Current Window.
No matter which toon you're using, that toon gets an initial move before anyone else on the team.





You could create a mapped key for each target or groups of targets that you might want to "toggle off".
Ten of these, would be one per slot.
But if you knew you wanted to disable an entire group, that would be two mapped keys (one per group).

Looking at my "Death Coil" for the Frost Death Knights...
My spammed priority sends several Do Mapped Key actions to all of the DK's.
One of these sends Shift-F8, to the current window.
I have Death Coil on that keybind, for the DK's within the game.
I have a Toggle (on my G15, G9 key) with two steps.
(Keymap Actions > New Mapped Key State Action)
--- Step 1: [Shift F8 Mapped Key] in [Team Keymap] [On] > Target: [My DK ATG]
--- Step 1: Pop Up Text > Current Window.
--- Step 2: [Shift F8 Mapped Key] in [Team Keymap] [Off] > Target: [My DK ATG]
--- Step 2: Pop Up Text > Current Window.

The spam key is calling several mapped keys...
But we can enable/disable a mapped key for a given target.
So even if it is called, it does not do anything.

The mapped key which you spam, that calls everything else...
That can be disabled.
Or if need be, each of the pieces that it calls can be disabled.

Spam Mapped Key
- Do Mapped Key > Ability/Castsequence/Macro One > Target Whatever
- Do Mapped Key > Ability/Castsequence/Macro Two > Target Whatever
If you disable those, for Slot 5, Group 2 (which might be Slots 6-10), or an entire ATG...





You could take it a step further; more organization initially but a smoother action once set up.

Rather than have a single Key Map for the team, have 2+.
You might have a Key Map for the Death Knights.
And another for the Paladins.
With a final Key Map for the Healers.
Or go with one for the first five characters, another for the next five characters, etc...

Under the character set, the second tab on the bottom right pane lets you White List the Key Maps that apply to your team.
Under this setup, I would have DK's, Ret's, Healer's, General and Control enabled.

Whatever key you spam, is the hot key for your "spam" mapped key.
This normally calls all of the actions, for every toon on your team.
Instead of having one of these...
You would have one per Key Map.
The DK Key Map would call mapped keys for the DKs only.
The Ret Key Map would call mapped keys for the Rets only.
(These would be on the same keybind, so one spam key calls abilities for each group of characters within the Key Map).
You wouldn't have to group the Key Maps by class, it could be by physical group instead... whatever works for you.
Both would be on the same keybind, so spamming the one key would essentially work the same as if they were all on a single Key Map.

You can disable an entire Key Map quite easily.
Control has an example, which turns Mapped Keys off by disabling every Key Map except Control for everyone, and then enabling again on the next press.
If your first group was in Key Map One and your second group was in Key Map two...
You could create a pair of toggles, each for an entire group.
Toggle A
--- Step One: Disable Key Map A > Everyone in Group A
--- Step Two: Enable Key Map A > Everyone in Group A
Toggle B... same thing, but for the other group.

Just make sure to add each Key Map to the Mapped Key in the Control Key Map, so you can toggle off mapped keys.

I don't have your config in front of me but what a lot of people will do is cram seventy Actions into their Main DPS Spam key, with seven of them going to each of ten ATGs. This way is indeed cumbersome to maintain. If that's where you're headed, I would advise against it

A slightly improved version is to split the per-ATG/class Actions into their own Key Maps or Mapped Keys, so that Death Knights have their own Main DPS Spam. With this method, what many people will do is put ten "Do Mapped Key Actions" into the main DPS Spam mapped key, each of which activates a class-specific DPS Spam Mapped Key for a specific ATG. (Which in turn sends some Keystroke to Window:Current.) This is one step closer to the Pro method, but still each time you add a new class you have to go back to your main DPS Spam and add a new Action to it to go to a specific ATG, and do this for each of your abilities.

The Pro guide's method improves on this by replacing the ten "Do Mapped Key Actions" you would have per ability with a single "Do Mapped Key Action" that simply works regardless of how many class combinations you want to add to your configuration (now or later). If an expansion comes out that adds a new class (say, Monk) then with this method you add your WoW Macros, add a Key Map for your Monk class (probably by spec, since they can be any role) to define DPS Spam, Panic, Interrupt, etc. Then for any Monk Character you assign that stuff to your Monk Character, add the Key Map virtualization to tell it to use the Monk key map for combat, plug in any ATGs he should be in (healers? tanks? dps?) and you're good to go. No need to dirty up any existing "DPS Spam" to set up a new class, and he fits right into any team you have.

There's some advanced mechanics you can use for your Target, in order to produce Targets like "the retribution paladin in slot 5"

So.. say you have a Retribution Paladins ATG (maybe in addition to your Paladins ATG), you might type in the Target box (instead of selecting from the drop-down) "Retribution Paladins&is5" with no quotes; you could of course use a Target Group Action to that Target to have him leave the Paladins ATG or combatant ATG, etc.

Sometime you really simply want to disable keymap on one windows. Not, simply dps, just totally exclude it, for broadcast or anything else.
For exemple, a slave windows with a level 1 horde to keep track of a player of the opposing faction, a slave connected just to have access to another guild chatroom, demonist & mage only connected to a slot to do teleports ...

That was a feature of keyclone that i really regret on isboxer (and it's too bad, because with video fx, this kind of stuff could be awesome).
I hope that one day exclude a windows from keymap / broadcast will be as simple as a checkbox in the Windows Layout Menu.
