Cool Moved my WoW setup to the garage, no more heat/noise

I finally moved to a bigger place and one of my goals was to have my gaming area adjacent to the garage so I could rackmount my stuff and pass it through the wall.

Originally my plan was just to cut a hole in the wall and pass the wires through but I decided to make a patch panel. This is the patch panel I created on the gaming side of the wall, foundsome keystone jacks that were perfect at monoprice. Only drawback was that I could not really find DVI ones but the vga jacks I got are working fine.

Here is a picture of my system plugged into the panel up and running:

Here is the hole in the wall garage side, still needs cleanup and trim:

This is the 42U server rack I found on craigslist. There was a large hidden cost I didnt see coming, rails and cage screws to mount the server boxes, they aint cheap.

I just have two APC 1500's sitting on the bottom for now next to my media center pc (propriatary crap inside the dell so I couldn't put the guts in a server case). My goal is to buy a used rackmount ups because the new ones are so expensive, I'll just buy a used one off ebay and replace the batteries.

wow i been thinking about a setup using server hardware and then using Windows Hyper (fx support) the using thin clients behind the screens.

the costs would be silly but it would be kinda cool having it like this or like the way you done it.

Damn, that is gonna be tough to top. That's pretty sweet.

Do you notice any loss in the video crispness with the normal VGA cables?

Is your garage Insulated? If not, what about heat/cold? I am in southern california, and if I put my computer in the garage, I'm sure it would melt...

I had a similar urge, which was to make an insulated wood box with ventilation to the garage but this is even sexier. Congrats! Must be a pleasing experience.
