As someone who's entire team, barring the healer, is melee, I call foul. There is nothing inefficient about running melee and ranged together. If that were the case, no one would ever run anything. Tank + ranged is standard practice.

Hitting a strafe key is not difficult and is probably one of the smallest issues you'll run across while boxing. In my setup, I tap q to strafe and break follow then hit 1 to initiate combat as my tank runs up to pull range. The tank pulls, shamans drop totems, melee follows the tank again leaving the healer back with the totems. As with anything else, it's a move that becomes second nature with some practice, just like hitting follow every time you leave combat.
