Old Keyboard == New Footboard

I was also thinking about doing a similar project. One question for you guys tho - how are you setting up the footboard to not conflict with the main keyboard... does vista recognize 2 keyboards at once? Program it as a game controller? What is the best course of action here.

Windows will recognize the input from multiple usb and ps/2 keyboards. One way that was suggested to use this with a regular keyboard is to tape the alt button down.

i really really really want to do this... i just am kinda not sure exactly how the knobs are mounted to the key itself... does one have to pop the key out, drill a hole IN the key.. and attach the knob on with the screw provided? I'm going to guess that's how it's done, but i'm not too sure.

That's how I did it. Had to take the keyboard apart because the screw head wouldn't fit through the key holes.

I heated the tip of the screw and pushed it through the plastic.

This is a great idea. I think I would use it for ctrl, alt, and shift purposes.
