I had my system hacked about 2 years ago. Speaking with a friend of mine in TX, a Blizz employee at the time, he suggested Kaspersky Labs. When speaking with Customer Support on the same issue, specifically the Account Restoration department, I asked 3 different blizz employees... (whats the best AVP software to use, or would you suggest?).. all of them said Kaspersky Labs.

I got it, havent had a problem since. Low resource usage, decent price, very little affects seen. Not only did it locate immediately the keylogger that was on my computer at the time, its since then eliminated 4 virus's and stopped a pier to pier remote access attempt. I love it, swear by it.

Let me help clear up this "mystery"... Every time this comes up it's exactly the same thing.

And that's this: Setting User Account Control to "Never Notify" (the bottom setting of the slider in the UAC settings box) is not the same thing as disabling User Account Control. All it does is make UAC not tell you when something requires Administrator permissions.

The difference between being an Administrator and a Standard User (non-Admin) for UAC prompts is as follows: If you're an Administrator, you just click Yes/OK; if you're NOT an Administrator, you have to type in the password of an Administrator account in order to click Yes/OK.

So yes, I am an Administrator user on my PC, I have UAC enabled at all times, and when I launch ISBoxer or Inner Space, I click Yes. If I were to change the slider, right now, to "Never notify", then not only will I not get prompted (as per the setting), but Inner Space will also NOT run as Administrator (as per the defined behavior of UAC when enabled).

If you want to launch your team from ISBoxer, ISBoxer has to be running as Administrator. If you want to launch your team from a desktop shortcut (and you have UAC enabled but set to Never notify, as you do) that shortcut has to be marked a Run as Administrator. Alternatively, I very recently built an Inner Space patch and a supplemental program you can use to launch with a non-Administrator desktop shortcut: http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=11124#p11124

    Hope this helps.

This. Win7 is not WinXP. Unless you manually "Run As Administrator," there's no guarantee it will run in full administrator mode. All an "admin" account on Win7 means is that you have rights to modify the registry and install/uninstall programs, shit like that.

    Lax,

I'm still having this issue, even after turning on UAC and accepting the popup box, running ISBoxer as Administrator, and switching to Microsoft Security Essentials as Mirai suggested. Any idea why this would be happening?

    Thanks.

The next step is to provide a Hijack This log when the problem is happening.
