why are most ppl staying away from using mages for pve multiboxing? just curious since i run with prot warr, holy priest, 3 mages.. wondering if i missed the boat somehow.

I use a pally, priest, warlock, and 2 mages.
I also run a prot warrior, disc priest, and 2 mages. With a 70 warlock and 67 paly i have been swapping out for the 5th slot.
Sheeping with the mages through focus, or aeing with paly/warlock really works quite well.
If you macro the mages target to be focused and sheep that, make the mage assist part1 then you have basicly all pve basses covered. For speed I would have prefered locks instead of mages, due the down time those have compared to locks (locks with right spec dont need to drink, just darc pact and life tap to get going again).

I just hate playing mages, damage is their only redeeming feature. :?
The only real thing to do with multiple mages is to AE farm and AE grind, I don't like the "standing still waiting for your spell to cast"/"waiting for the PoM cooldown to wear off" thing.
You could probably enjoy some world pvp ganking folks, but other classes might be better for that. Like hunters (successfully dualboxing a pair to great effect in pvp and pve as we speak)
Well, I made my group with heroics in mind. I think 2 sheeps will prove to be very useful. I have another high level lock on standby for instances like Mech.
But I like my group so far. And who knows, Blizzard might buff mages one day!

actually i made the grp for running heroics and the tank makes it a lot easier for me there.. for pvp i run with a hunter in place of the warr.. aimed shot with 3 pom pyros is fun for giggles, but having to stand still for casting in pvp (other than pom) is a pain for pvp
guess ill lvl up a few locks and see how that works for me too, being able to move around the whole time might better for some fights and pvp, I just never tried it
Leveling 5 characters would be hell starting from level 1.
