    Default SSD instalation/setup

Hey i just bought a 120gb intel 520 series SSD and am wondering what is the best way to install/set it up.
from what i have read i have to
1.go into Bios and change it to AHCI or RAID mode??
2.install windows 7 onto the ssd?
    3.take a break and cry.
4.system setup/optimisation or something like that?

Could someone please post a link to a guide or describe the best way to set it up?

Im currently 4 boxing D3 and from what i have read, i need to move/install the game onto the ssd for better performance (do i put isboxer in there also?)
But thats after i have finished setting up the SSD

I did some searching for you, but feel free to search on your own. This is from a WoW perspective, but im sure D3 is pretty close.

This has some pretty good info on it. But what from I understand is only wow goes on the SSD. OS writes and deletes to much that your SSD will kill itself. Make sure it dosen't defrag itself. Im not sure on how many times it can be completely wiped, but there is a number. I suppose this is why people opt for the lower GB SSD drives.

I don't see a reason for IS to be on your SSD. WoW loads a ton of files before you log in, and this is where you will more than likely see your gains.

I put my OS on an SSD, and yes it does seem to kill it quick. I think you can tell how long you have though, after a bit is read/written enough times the driver marks it bad and no longer uses it. So you notice your SSD getting smaller and smaller, and when it says you're about out of room you order another one. Took about a year.

There is no special guide for physically installing an SSD, you install it like any other HDD. Here are some useful links for what happens afterwards:

    Doesn't matter.

Correct, you don't want to defrag an SSD. Also note that smaller drivers have worse performance compared to their larger counterparts, and I'm pretty sure people opt for smaller drives because they can't afford larger ones.

SSDs don't wear out in a year. If your SSD is wearing out in a year, then there's a much larger underlying factor at work. SSDs are built to last for a long time regardless of whether you're gaming from them or they're your OS drive. One of my SSDs has been an OS drive for over a year now with 2.32TB written to it and the software shows both the drive health and estimated life remaining at 100%.
