There are already plenty of videos online that explain how to effectively play a WD. I don't need to make one myself to explain to someone why stun/freeze gear is next to useless for a WD.. sorta obvious as to why.

Love the software but this forum is full of a bunch of old timers who think EQ/DAOC skills apply to D3. I'm out.

What you say could be true for a single Witch Doctor - but this is multi-boxing. If you think 10-20% chance to 'freeze/stun' on a WD is too bad to be relied upon - imagine when all 4 have the same, it becomes very different.

p.s. keep up the good work OP!

And tell me about the your builds now? I'm running with what I originally read in the first post - not really got enough mana regen to make Acid Cloud reliable yet (only level 50 too). Are you still using Vision Quest?

I would suggest you get Mana Regen on Helm, Weapon and Offhand. You really need these, I even have this on my MF only sets. It makes a huge difference. Even if you give up DPS on the paper doll, get all 3 pieces for max mana regen if you run this build IMO.

Here's a decent spec that's pretty much what I use now (I just sub out jungle fort for bad medicine on one guy) - which gives your group 40% damage reduction (except for the mad medicine guy): http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#iZURTQ!ZVU!aaaZYb

This is a Vision Quest build, so you get 300% mana regen when 4 skills are on CD - which should always be the case in combat. Hex should always be up, it's a GREAT cc, and just keep resummoning your gargs, and use spirit walk whenever it's up.

Your main attack, acid cloud, takes about 172 mana, also use grasp every time it's up. Which leaves you to round robin BBV when you need it for 30% damage and speed - this is the other skill that won't be on cooldown all the time along with Acid Cloud.

So if you don't have ANY mana regen you get:
    20 (default) + 0 = 60 + 20 mana a sec
    20 (default) + 10 (1x 10 mana regen item) = 90 + 30 mana / sec
    20 (default) + 20 (2x 10 mana regen items) = 120 + 40 mana / sec
    20 (default) + 30 (3x 10 mana regen items) = 150 + 50 mana / sec
    20 (default) + 35 (3x ~10-14 mana regen items) = 165 + 55 mana / sec

So you can see, you can spam Acid Cloud a LOT more often with that nice 200 - 220 mana / sec. That's a LOT more dps, stun procs and LoH procs.
