    Q6600 2.4Ghz 8gigs of memory GTX 280 1gig memory

i thinking of upgrading this to a TI 560 with 2 gig memory

my current setup works good for 4 boxing but when i go 5 i get a bit of lag sometimes

or do i need to do a cpu/motherboard upgrade like the I7 2600k

however would my current card work well for that

When you view the Windows performance index, what does it say your weakest area is?

Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Check the Windows Experience Index

Wow is far more CPU dependent than Video.

But I'd go into Resource Monitor, and see what your bottleneck is.
Anything that gets close to 100%, is maxing your resources...
And with additional resources, would run smoother.

    If you're using Windows 7.
    Control + Shift + Escape.
    Performance Tab.
    Resource Monitor, near the bottom.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Get yourself an Intel 6 Gbps 120 gig SSD drive. That will get all your ratings in the 7+ range. You can get them around $130 on Amazon.

You definately dont need a new graphics card, thats the best thing you have. After a new SSD hard drive I would try for 12 gig RAM.

WEI is fantastic for letting you know how great your system is going to Windows (for the most part). It's not a real benchmark of any sort and no benchmarking sites state how high of a score a CPU, GPU, SSD, etc achieves on the WEI.

You need to look at your Performance Monitor and GPU-Z when you are getting lag. You need to see if it's your CPU or your GPU that is the bottleneck (I'm going to say it's the CPU). If you're using DX11 then change it to DX9. The GTX 280 doesn't technically support DX11 and your VRAM will be better off in DX9. I doubt you're using anywhere near 8GB of RAM unless you're running a ton of shit in the background. I don't think I've ever hit 7GB of RAM usage while multiboxing 5 accounts and I run some fairly high graphics settings.

EDIT: To Add -- Could it be your HDD causing this lag? Sure, it could be. Everyone's definition of lag is different and you could just be experiencing textures loading slowly from the HDD if you've got a ton of crap on it or it hasn't been defrag'd. An SSD will not increase your FPS beyond what your computer is capable of. It will deliver the necessary information that the CPU and the GPU need to display what's on the screen. If the CPU and GPU are the bottleneck then the SSD will not deliver anything besides faster loading screens.

I understand i thinking my cpu is the bottle neck ATM just from reasoning with the diffent options

as for DX9 how do i switch it to DX 9 i read it somewhere can't recall as i try to read as much as i can before i ask and i think a SSD won't do me a whole lot of good unless i get a new card to bump it up to the 6gig deal as it stand my mother board only supports 300Mb

    thank you

Swapping between versions of DX is done in your advanced video settings.

As for an SSD, you can buy a SATAIII model and have it work on a SATAII port at SATAII speeds until you eventually upgrade. Here are some numbers:

Any SSD on that list without the (6Gbps) tag is running at SATAII speeds. Compare that to the HDD in the list (hint: it's in last place). Doesn't really matter whether it's SATAII or SATAIII because it's light years faster than an HDD.
