For the alli, they need to down the tower point 'officer' first. For the horde its the icewing bunker guy. When either of those two are down, the massive aoe damage to the raid is greatly decreased making the healers job at keeping the tank up to kill Vann or Drek better.

note: I may be wrong but this is how it was explained to me to do a blitz run.
