Most peripherals that require drivers don't play well with KVM switches. All of the USB KVMs that I have used act as HID devices. The computers senses them as a generic HID device. The KVM basically fools the computer into thinking it has a mouse/keyboard connected when you swap away to a different PC. The KVM passes on the basic 3 mouse buttons and standard keyboard keys. Special function keys like volume or media keys don't always work as well as additional mouse buttons.
