Can't rotate display?!

Okay, so i'm now intending to run 3 instances of WoW on my laptop and 2 on another comp, instead of running all 5 on my laptop.
Because of this i'd like to be able to rotate my 24" TFT and use it for 2 WoWs.

However upon going into Control Panel > NVIDIA Control Panel > Rotate Display and setting the display to be rotated 90 degrees, the screen just flickers once but doesn't rotate at all.

I've tried rotating with an external monitor plugged in and without.

I'm running 32bit Vista on a laptop
Core2Duo T7300 2.0
8600M-GT 256mb
2GB ram

I use 1920x1280 resolution and i've tried in about 3 different resolutions aswell.
I have updated my graphics card drivers but that's not made a difference.

I've spent ages searching for information on google but haven't managed to find anything. Any help/advice would be appreciated

Didn't help
However i read a couple of posts in forums which say that the 8600M-GT's drivers don't support display rotation.
Apparently though the Mac drivers for the 8600M were updated to allow display rotation, so i'll keep looking to see if there's any kind of fix for it in Vista.

Can you boot a live CD of say Ubuntu, install binary drivers (screw u nVidia) and check to ensure the hardware supports it? I would assume it does but still. A basic search indicated it has some issues not working for some people.
