Default Any leveling guide like Zygor, post Cata without gathering quest?

Like the topic says, it existed an awesome leveling guide pre Cata that excluded gathering quest. It doesn't need to take RAF in mind, just to skip gathering quest.

In the new zones (both 1-60 and 80-85) the quests are so linear that it's nearly pointless to have such a guide. In the 80-85's zones you simply have no choice but to follow them all.

Not that I have seen. Quests are really linear now, there's not a lot of opportunity to be able to skip collection quests. If it's not a skippable quest, your options are pretty much bite the bullet and do the collections or grind out some XP in dungeons or Battlegrounds and move on to the next area.

for questing ive used the free addon from the james horde leveling guide,to level quite a few of my toons, and its uptodate with the new zones.

Collecting quest wise, for me depends on my mood on the day,i do have a pretty good patience, and collecting things 5 times..i think yes it is a bit laborious/mind numbing sometimes..but those 5 times your grinding the mobs and getting exp at the same time,i don't do Every collect quest,i tend to pick and choose,at least with this addon,if you choose to jump a quest,it will tell you,the follow on quests you will be missing out on if you do,if there are lot i might miss,i'll bite the bullet and do the collect quest..its really down to personal choice..
Also some quest givers say have 3 quests..if one of those is a collect quest, with the high amounts, like collect 40 wheel cogs etc,you could leave that one and do the other 2..
At the end of the day, collect quests are still going to be there, and unavoidable to an extent if you want to level through questing..

this is the addon, its worth a try anyway,if you like to quest and its free and alliance and horde

PS : This a video time lapse of someone 1 to 85 using this guide..in the info its actually 60 hours or so condensed to 1 hour of ffraps video

The Zygor Guides (or any guide with an in-game waypoint/arrow) is quite helpful.
Even through Cataclysm content, because you know where you should be all the time.

80 to 85 (Cataclysm) is rather linear.
You cannot skip much, aside from one entire zone...
Most will skip Vashj'ir (the underwater 80-82 zone) and go with Hyjal (also an 80-82 zone).
If you do both Vashj'ir and Hyjal, you can skip one zone after those but have to do most of everything else.
For maximum gold, you'd do everything... and then quest in Twilight Highlands as an 85.

There isn't really a guide without collections.
You can skip a lot of collections for 1st - 80th level content.
Because you only need 70-80% of the experience you needed when that content was current.
Plus you can equip heirlooms to level faster, or be in a higher level guild for faster leveling too.
