Thread: headphones

I don't want to offend anyone - keep in mind I am a hardcore audiophile, have had ~10 different gaming headsets - but Logitech has had, by far, the worst sound quality of all the headsets (even speakers sets, i.e. z5300) I have used. Normal people would probably not care or notice at all.

Also, if you have are using something other than onboard sound, and have invested in a decent sound card, DO NOT buy any headsets that connect via USB - you will be rendering your soundcard that you spent money on useless. Headsets that connect via USB have their own sound processing, typically much inferior to what a decent soundcard (the latest x-fi) can do.

Shoot for a headset that has 50mm cans.

I also have the Logitech G930 gaming headset. It is quite good (for gaming, not audiophiles), but as mentioned, my ears get a little sweaty after a while. =(

Stay away from the new Corsair headphones.

    Pros
    They look cool as hell.
Its got loud sounds but sound doesnt jump out at you.
    A crisp sounding mic
    Volume Control on the cord

    Cons
The bass and highs are not good enough for the +100 dollars i paid it for.
The mic flips up instead of doing an accordian effect like some of the other headphones.
You cant plug them into your iphone.
They are a bit heavy causing some discomfort.
cord snags on chair so cordless option would be attractive
Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it"

Just a heads up re: G930

If you already have a G510 keyboard, the Logitech driver I've found will not play nice!

When I try to do the install for G930, after installing the G510 on a new platform (win 7) the drivers fail and the Logitech software will not start up. Not even after restarting windows.

Edit: It will work. You will need to run it as administrator though.

    You are a brave man.

Once, against my better judgement and the recommendations of others, I too purchased a Creative product...

    Never Again.
