Thread: 2h obliterate?

    Default 2h obliterate?

I have been having fun playing quad dk in bg and i am currently using a 2hander but not speced into obliterate! im using howling blast necrotic strike and frost strike

I am looking to start 5v5 and I have read (on these forums and others) that 2handers are better in arena for burst but dw is better sustained damage for bg

I tested out an obliterate spec on my main and had an increase of 3k dps on burst! this is obviously without resilience and im not sure how armor works on training dummies but im aware obliterates damage is negated by armor! and i wasnt using necrotic strike so I would think not specing into obliterate is more beneficial? but i may be wrong

I was hoping someone could give me a bit of advice. I have the ruthless 2handers and could upgrade to cata dw if it is better, but for the time being should I spec into and use obliterate or stick with the howling blast necrotic and frost strike? maybe using obliterate for burst on clothies? it just seems necrotic strikes debuff is far more superior!

Then when i can upgrade my weapons to cata should i stick with the 2hander or go dw?

    Thanks

The Obliterate is especially good in conjunction with Hungering Cold.
If you're running with a Paladin healer, Concentration Aura + Aura Mastery will ensure you get it off.
It is single target, and won't break the crowd control with an AoE.

As to whether you should go with a 2-Hander or dual-wield, is up to you.
Dual Wield seems to be higher sustained damage, but burst is likely more important in Arena.

A 2-Hander will be larger Obliterate strikes and Necrotic Strikes.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Thanks for the advice ualaa, I am goin to spec into obliterate as it is higher burst and it can be very beneficial as you described! Although Now I'm not entirely sure if I should take desecration? As I noticed you havent speced into it! Is that because u use howling blast and chains of ice instead? Do you find it hard to close the gap without it? I would like to drop it for increased rp regen and because it lags my computer out spamming desecration! Fps drops from 60 to 10 At timesbecause of it!

I think I am beginning to understand why it's blasphemy!! Haha thought chilblains would be sufficient slow but maybe not?? Is improved frost presence better than on a pale horse?
