    Default Window swapping stops working...

Does this happen to anyone else...

I'll be happily playing and I need to switch to another toon for something. I'll switch from slot 1 (master) to slot 4 and do what I need to do but then I am unable to switch back. All WoW instances on the taskbar start flashing orange and the only way to get the toons swapping again is to do a full logout.

Getting frustrating really, as when I log back in I seem to hit the 'character not found' bug and can take another 20mins or so to log in.

Anyone got any ideas how to stop this?

    Cheers

I am having a similar problem with SWTOR, but I can still click to switch windows (2 monitors). I hit my hotkey to swap and it just flashes orange on the task bar. My problem doesn't go away with relogging though Been this way for about 10 days or so

Alright I'm not going to claim to be an expert on the specific issue you are getting, however, the reasons why this might happen are documented by Microsoft:

The system restricts which processes can set the foreground window. A process can set the foreground window only if one of the following conditions is true:

    • The process is the foreground process.
    • The process was started by the foreground process.
    • The process received the last input event.
    • There is no foreground process.
    • The foreground process is being debugged.
    • The foreground is not locked (see LockSetForegroundWindow).
    • The foreground lock time-out has expired (see SPI_GETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT in SystemParametersInfo).
    • No menus are active.

An application cannot force a window to the foreground while the user is working with another window. Instead, Windows flashes the taskbar button of the window to notify the user.

So... it could be that a menu (context menu, right click menu, file menu) is active (open) on some window on your PC and this would cause the flashing behavior. It could be that the "foreground is locked" somehow, by some other program on your computer (IS+ISBoxer does not do this), and the "foreground lock time-out" has not expired. It could be that InnerSpace.exe was closed and restarted while the game windows were up.

I'm not really sure on other possible reasons. Try shutting down other running programs and that will probably help clear up this behavior

As I said, I've had this problem for several days now. I've narrowed it down to only happening when ISBoxer is running my SWTOR chars. When I have my two windows open, everything else I try to open (Chrome, Evernote, whatever) exhibits this flashing behavior. Switching between SWTOR windows with my hotkey makes them flash, etc. Clicking on the flashing tab won't switch me to the flashing window - I have to use Win-Tab to cycle between open windows to actually change windows.

I am not sure why, but the problem does seem to be ISBoxer.

Does ALT+TAB work the same way as WIN+TAB when it happens? Note that, while rare, it is possible to end up with odd behavior by having a stuck key somewhere in the keyboard firmware, the keyboard HID stack, any software stack that runs on top of the keyboard drivers, or Windows' state machine.

Something to try: next time it happens, press and release every modifier key on the keyboard once, including your Windows key(s). If that fixes it, it's a stuck key problem.

On a related note, do you run a keyboard or mouse (or other HID device) that comes with programmable software for remapping/macroing/etc. keys on the device?

Alt-Tab does not work, Win-Tab does. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse. The keyboard is standard windows layout. The mouse has two extra buttons that are programmable.

Did you try pressing all the modifier keys to see if it unstuck the key?
