Default Anybody using a Razer Hydra

All this talk of footpedals and cyborgs has got me thinking about my controller setup. I play with a keyboard and G700 wireless mouse. I also have a G13 controller that I never really seemd to be better than the keyboard.

I have also had some problems with my back and neck and don't think my current setup along with 2-3hr stints at the computer are helping. I saw the hydra and thought it might be something that I could use a bit more dynamically. Having the hat controller plus 4 programmable buttons plus what I assume are directional controls of the controller should give me more than enough programability to do everything short of typing.

Saying this I am not exactly sure of how programmable this controller is or how the motion detection setup works. If anybody has used the Hydra, would be interested to here personal experiences about these details and how they might apply to a typical ISboxer 5 boxed setup.

On a sidenote I have also considered looking into kinect for PC but like the fact that this controller has programmable buttons also.

    Cheers

I don't know about the Naga Hydra, but I use the naga Razer and I would not trade this mouse for any other. With 12 programmable side buttons and 4 mouse buttons I have enough keybinds for my lock in pvp.

...yeah, I'm not so sure the Hydra would be good for multiboxing. It works through invisible "grids"
on the screen and, with just a quick look, it seems that the Hydra works well with games that
don't have a lot of binds or have a more "action-oriented" combat style.

While I'm not saying it can't be done, I am saying that it doesn't look like my style to tackle
multiboxing in World of Warcraft efficiently.

EDIT: I can't find anything specific to the Hydra and WoW except that it seems that these
controllers need to specifically support the game you want to play?

Having a bit more of a look around the net, I think I might give one a go for a bit. It seems the gestures can be generically mapped to key or mouse binds as well as natively supporting functions in specific games, so hopefully I can just remap WASD. If not, at least from that forum link, it seems that they are developing some more integrated controls anyway.

At this point, my controller play is pretty basic. I use the multi button mouse in my right hand to control main character camera movement, some directional movement, target selection and healing/debuffing. My left hand basically mashes dps, controls main movement and strafing, follow and occasionally some manual slave movement. I think the button selection coupled with the hat control and gesture mapping should be more than enough to carry out these functions, just basically a matter of retraining my muscles to use them.

Out of intrerest, how many buttons do you guys you find you press 90% of the time. Specifically I am thinking about in combat functions that are really time and response sensitive rather than convenience functions like mounting, hearthing, accepting requests etc.

Just as a quick reference I have about 20 individual keys that could be pressed at one point or another by
my left hand. Whether I'm efficient or not at hitting all of these keys is another story but, I'm always
    working on expanding this list.

    `, 1, 2, 3, 4, Q, W, E, R, A, S, D, F, Z, X, C, SHIFT, ALT, SPACE, TAB

F3 is my interrupt key on all my characters and since I mainly pvp I press this more than any other button.
