I wonder if lag on the follower is making him a touch slower? I notice in long conversations, the non-active screen lags behind slightly by the end.

Thing is, for me at least, that's the way every game I've ever 2-boxed has been, so I'm used to just running to the other side of the mob I want to attack and then turning to attack it.
Long convos - Thats your computer processing the flash. If you can increase your systems stats, you will see this go away.

WoW has the IWT that is very helpful with melee groups. Until SWTOR introduces an IWT option, this will likely always be the remedy. Plus keep in mind, that the use of follow with assist and dps keys will help (but not eliminate), this issue. You will never be as efficient or effective to drive with your healer as long as you have a melee member in your team, unless IWT is added.

Plus, I think some classes have larger melee ranges than others. I tested this. Sith Inquisitors have a bigger melee range than Sith Warriors. go figure. If you operate say, (2) Sith Assassins, there is no need for the "run past mob" method. I dunno if this is meant to be that way or if its an oversight of the Assassin vs the warrior... thought it was interesting tho.

I have not been that happy with my Marauder & Sorcerer team due to similar issues posted in the thread. My Sorcerer seems to get too far behind and in many occasions just sits there out of range; I then need to hit follow completely messing up my DPS rotation and/or critical heals that the other team member needs.

Tonight I am planning on leveling up a Powertech to see if using a ranged tank will play nice with my Sorcerer. Hoping this will nullify a good number of my issues; WoW spoiled me with IWT in more ways than one.

Thats interesting. I LOVE my 3 man team, one Jugg and two Sorc. Its beastly. Perhaps I may be a bit too careful? not sure. Or perhaps my setup has something different in it... Either way, I do not see the Sorcerers standing behind me doing nothing. My dps keymaps are using their own rotation, so Im only ever spaming one or two buttons.

If, for example, my Sorcerers are on follow, (leading with the Jugg), even if I use Force Leap the Sorcerers are still on follow. The leap of one toon doesnt break follow on another. And I start spamming my dps key. Sorcerers are sill on follow. Follow only breaks when you perform some action that puts you in combat, or performs a buff, mount etc. But if the ranged group is still on follow, they will simply run up until they are in range, and THEN.. they will start attacking, (stopping follow).

In all likelihood it may well be my setup; still working my way through all the various suggestions and adding things slowly that I think will improve my boxing abilities.

Eventually I want to bring in a third account once I get the hang of SWTOR boxing; hopefully my system will run three without too many upgrades.

I think the main problem ppl are heaving is below lvl 10 in the newbie zone. There the range of the spells of the Sith Inquisitor/Consular is 4 or 10 meters (m). if in our rotation the 10m spell triggers, before the 4m, the follow is broken, and your toon is out of range for all other spells and will do "nothing" until the CD of the 10m spell is done. The range increases to 30 meters for most spells when you get your advanced class (sage/sorcerer) which should be fine. I placed my sorcerer in the middle of the room in "turrent" mode , and jumped from one mob to another with the juggernaut, without any problem.

My issue seems to be related to using control+ keybinds for my bottom center bar. I added 1-0 from the number pad as the second in-game keybind, updated my keymaps and now things are working much better.
