    Default Anti virus windows

In the interest of boxing, I need will get a pc. It just does not work on Mac. It seems pc is the platform with the Trojans, viruses and all that. What do you guys use for protection? Is the Microsoft security essential program enough? What about performance hit from av software?

I leave Windows Defender on and use Avast! Antivirus. I don't notice any performance issues with Avast running...maybe a little hitch now and then if I get my full-blown scan going, but not enough to bother me. I've heard decent things about Security Essentials, but I've used Avast for years and been happy with it.

I also use MalWareBytes and SecuniaPSI about once a week. People will probably tell you to get a different browser, too. I use Opera with the AdBlock and NotScripts extensions, most people her use FireFox or Chrome.

I use chrome browser and Mcaffe virus/software/malware defender. McAffe does everything in a background and I never see a system slow down from it.

It is a sad thing Xraptorx, that ISboxer doesn't support OSX. This question is interesting to me as well as I'm about to buy a new PC for boxing purposes.

I would give the money I was going to spend on a new PC if someone will develop ISboxer for mac

Until then, I'm keen to hear the suite that I'll need to buy for protection

If you're having an issue with viruses and malware in windows, then you're doing it wrong.

Took the words right out of my mouth, except I was afraid to post that due to possibly hurting someone's feelings (which I seem to do a lot here and have posts deleted).

There are several other platforms that are susceptible to Trojans, viruses and all that. When you control ~90% of a market share, I don't think hackers are going to target the 10%.

I use Security Essentials and IE9.

I'm fighting viruses and malware pretty much everyday. I'm in the middle of settling my third identity theft.

QFT I haven't had a virus successfully hit me since...1997? And I did that on purpose. Either way the point stands, it's not like just because you're running Windows you're doomed to have catastrophic virus issues every other day. Especially if you don't use your computer like a cracked out and lobotomized monkey.

Consider keeping minimum files and programs on your gaming rig. Use a gimp computer to run your file server and other operations.
Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it"

uhm your third identity theft? Sounds like you are doing it wrong too! I don't have problems with viruses or malware. Stop browsing bad porn sites and use Firefox with adblock/NoScript. I havent had to deal with a virus in so long its like they dont even exist.

Seconded. Combine that with a decent home router (and don't open ports!), using something besides Outlook for email and not opening attachments from people you don't know and you'd be about as likely to get struck by lightning as get a virus.
