    Default Good Holy Priest sequence

I finally got my 5 man team to 85 (prot war, holy priest, 3X arcane mage) and am starting to run instances. Frankly, I can't manage both the priest and warrior and am getting overwhelmed. I either focus on the warrior to pick up adds and the heals stop, or vice versa.

I know I'll get better with time, but I was hoping to macro the priest in the meantime. Right now I'm doing it all through grid and click bars, using renew, greater heal and circle of healing. (Basically just like I always played EQ healers)

I know there are all these other healing spells, but I don't use any of them because I have no idea where they fit in.

Does anyone have healing macros I can use in my dps spam so I can "forget about it" until I get better at managing the tank?

Or just better suggestions for what spells I should use?

Make the priest disc imo. Disc just feels more powerful to me.

Renew from all of them, will be a good... top up type spell.

You might want to pre-bubble the tank and/or team, when there is AoE stuff.
You could also pre-buff the team with Prayer of Mending.

With a glyph, you will be hit capped for Smite.
And Smite will heal the lowest health party/raid member for a decent amount, with talents.
Smite spam will be the simplest method to passively heal.

Holy main here for 4 years.

    /stopmacro [channelling]
/cast [@focus] prayer of mending, renew, heal

put that on your spam key. That will cast a pom, renew, and heal at your tank every 10 seconds (you can take out the heal if you like). At my gear level I refuse to deal with stupid heal anymore. I flash baby! But you probably need your mana.

/castsequence [@focus] reset=5 flash heal, flash heal, greater heal

put that on your "heavy damage is incoming" button. You should have serendipity so the two flashes reduce the cast time on that greater heal to the length of a flash heal

Prayer of Mending is your most important heal for boxing (And for normal heroic healing). If you're ok with something sophisticated, use your aoe chakra and a video feed, and drop happy sparkle ground near the beginning of every trash pull. (I don't know how close you're bringing your mages to trash but even just the extra tick tick on the tank helps keep him evened out. If you want something simpler, use the tank healing chakra and add that single target chakra heal to your tank heal macro (as a second line).

Lightwells can now be targetted again and clicked so you need a

/target lightwell and then iwt macro for your whole team

Set that happy little lightwell next to your tank for boss fights, its actually a surprising amount of healing that you can self apply while driving the warrior. you probably want to glyph it so that it has 15 charges. Don't worry about the minimum damage to break requirements, that doesn't really happen and even if it does the first two ticks make it worth it anyway.

Something else that you might not be using as much as you ought is divine hymn. You need to talent it down to 3 minutes and be using it almost that often. Just use it for any period of heavy damage and get 8 seconds of immunity.

COH is nice, but POH is your bread and butter. I sometimes use my flash flash at the tank (using the above macro) to stack serendipity for a POH. Make sure you have the poh glyph.

Holy is definitely more flexible and powerful than disc, but at earlier gear levels the mana benefits of disc might win out, your decision.

    Thanks All!

I'll try luxlunae's method first and see if I can keep up as Holy. Barring that I'll swap over to disc and try the smite spam route.

    Cheers,
    Matt

I actually just set up videofx (still using grid) for my healer rather than using click throughs and I love it. I really like the certainty that THIS is the healer clicking on things and THIS is the tank. Tidier.

I've just set this up. Seems like it could be good but can't get the videofx to be clear (it's blurry...) not game breaking but irritating lol
