Thread: Disc Priest

    Default Disc Priest

My priests are now 82/83 and each have their 10k HK achievements.

I've just been considering spec and glyphs and will probably change a few minor things to something like this
    http://www.wowhead.com/talent#bfGc0R...MZ0b:qmkmaVzVM

Atonement is very useful when I have melee in my face and when with versus an AV boss.
Hola Nova is great for disruption at Balinda and survival, it allows me to keep my priests alive whilst I look for the healers (if any) and cast penance x 5 to take them out (hopefully).
They will often benefit from 20% extra smite damage AND atonement healing due to the glyph and the potential for 5 holy fire casts.

I have removed Archangel because I prefer to keep the buff.

After I make some minor modifications, my key setup will be as follows. (pseudo macros)

    [SPACE]
    /stopmacro [channeling]
    /petattack
/castsequence Holy Fire, Smite, Smite .....
    /cast Penance
    /cast [@player] Power Infusion
    /cast shadowfiend

    [Q]
    /castsequence holy nova, holy nova
    /cast pain supression

    [E]
    /petattack
    /stopmacro [channeling]
    /cast [harm] penance

    [R] (round robin)
    /cast Power word: Barrier

    [F] (round robin)
    /cast Psychic Scream

    [B]
    /cast Mana Burn

    [1]
    /petattack
/castsequence reset=1/target shadow word: pain, devouring plague, null
    /cast shadowfiend

    [2]
/castsequence [@player] reset=5 Shadow Word: Shield, Prayer of Mending

    [3]
1st press, All renew leader, 2nd press All renew themselves

    [4]
    fear trinket

I plan to setup inner focus with prayer of healing on self - but from what I understand I'll have to join the BG late to try and be in the same party for it to work best.

If anyone has advice about the setup or can take from it, great.

    Mind Sear
    Mind Spike
    Mind Blast

All spells I've played a little with - Mind Sear lost it's place on my keyboard at the moment, whilst playing with Mind Spike - but I'm not sure I really need it.

If you're going to PI, do it before any spells. Ideally, don't macro it. it's far to valuable to just throw in a macro. Stack it with mana burn to rape a healer's mana bar, force a mage to evocate, or even confuse the balls off a lock. Even better would be to stack it with Holy Fire -> Smite Spam. Just make sure you Penance yourself + bubble yourself before you use PI to reduce the chance of getting it stolen / purged.

I'd also consider dropping Inspiration and Improved renew and picking up Renewed Hope -> Strength of Soul to be able to free cast 2 flash heals every 45 seconds without fear of silence. This would also give you the ability to Self Bubble -> IF -> Dispel UA.

You're also going to suffer by having to stack hit gear to make sure you're landing Holy Fire and Smites. Instead you should pick up the Divine Accuracy Glyph negating the need to stack hit.

For running multiple disc's I'd even consider dropping veiled shadows (unless you're using your fiend for kill chances) and pick up 2 points in Darkness.

Make sure you're able to throw fear ward on everyone but again, you'll want to protect it, so penance yourself and/or bubble.

Once you get your 4 piece: It may take some practice (it did for me) but don't preemptively bubble against a class that can slow you. Save your bubble for holy walk VS a snare. It'll help greatly.

Edit: Remember you can Mind Sear friendly targets, Make a macro/keymap that will have everyone Mind Sear each other. It's great for finding stealthed Rogues / Druids

Is the high hit just to handle bosses? I figured PVP doesn't need much hit.

I use holy nova for this - since I can move whilst casting.

Thanks for all your input though - I'll integrate your suggestions into my setup, your insight into possible situations is helpful

Ideally you'll want to get enough hit to be able to hit a level 85 (another player) That way you're fears always land, your dispels never miss. Past that you'll want the smite glyph to be able to hit the bosses to proc the healing for the melee on bosses without fear of missing.

X5 mana burn has to be painful. 5 disc priests actually sounds like a lot of fun.

Should I drop inner fire glyph for divine accuracy?

    or the 20% smite glyph

and maybe I should take penance out of the the spam - because it'll reduce the healing done.

Honestly, I'd drop the Holy Nova for Divine Accuracy, but it may be a trade off. If you're not going to be doing a lot of holy fire -> smiting on bosses you may be better off with Holy Nova Glyph.

Argh.. tough choice - Holy Nova has been so good for me up to now.. I will have to test my play style on that one.

Had a great game just now - healing power of smite just let us push and push and push...

Good luck to you! Any time I have tried priests I have failed miserably to make them useful.
