For the newer games, I think you'll be hard pressed to run more than 2, maybe 3.
I can't 5 box on my laptop anymore like I used to and I used to use a dual core, 4GB ram and 512mb graphics.

    I 5-box comfortably on:

    - core2duo
    - 8meg RAM
    - 8500 graphics card (512 meg)
    - standard HDD
    - Windows 7 premium 64bit

5 was a little painful with 4gig, which is why I upgraded windows and RAM, but you'll be able to run 2/3 instances comfortably.

Your constraints should be fixed in this order:
    -operating system to 64bit
    -RAM
    -CPU
    -Graphics card
    -HDD
