Mate of mine reported this already in the beta, and that is why he never bothered with the live version. And there are plenty reports like this out there on the web as well.

Basically if a major publisher can't sort out basic pvp when they go live, there is something very wrong in my book, meaning I keep my cash in my pocket. Because they either don't care about pvp but still offer it because others do it too, or they failed miserably.

I wish the people playing it a lot of fun, but from what I've seen on live streams and hear from the people that play it, it's just another rift & aion story.

The thing is, most people are bad and then form opinions to rationalize their badness.

All through beta everyone on the forums cried about how powerful Sages and Sorcerors were. I knew in beta that Operatives and Scoundrels were far more dangerous. Why? Sages and Sorcerors are incredibly easy to play, extremely plentiful and have nearly an unlimited power pool. They put up big numbers, but DPS wise not exactly the most effective numbers.

Scoundrels and Operatives had a bug which has since been fixed. It allowed them a 100% crit rate out of stealth which basically allowed them to do 10-11k damage in two global cooldowns 100% guaranteed.

A well played character in this game is going to dominate the masses period, because most people are bad. I've seen Vanguards put up 500k, I've seen Guardians put up 500k, I've seen Marauders put up 500k. I've seen Sages and Sorcerors do 300/300k. I've seen every single class in the game put up over 300k damage and all of the healers put up over 300k healing. I've also seen some healers put up over over 300k healing AND damage in a single game although this is far more rare .

Powergamers are early adopters and will quickly break the game down into its most basic elements. The developers will then address the unforeseen as those powergamers break the game down. Then after 3 or 4 months most of them will have burned themselves out and all will be well and the game will be much better balanced for it.

The TLDNR version is. This is nothing like Rift. There is no single uber dominant class in PvP now that a major bug with Scoundrels and Operatives have been fixed. Sages can stomp Mercenaries, but Mercenaries stomp Sentinels which stomp Sorcerors. The only class that probably the most powerful 1v1 IS the Scoundrel/Operative, but they are far less effective in a DPS role in any larger fights.

1v1 equal skill Scoundrel/Operative is going to be hard to top.
4v4 Equal skill, I'd probably not be looking to take a scoundrel.
8v8 equal skill, might see some gimmicky scoundrel loadouts but effectiveness is further diminished.
Open world PvP, have fun sitting on the sidelines picking stragglers off, or being relegated to healbot mode.

Boy... you could've just stopped right there. Thats a powerfully true statement. Its all perspective.
